REAL FOOTBALL Thread

No unsportsmanlike conduct on that excessive celebration.

Holy Cannoli this has to go down as one of the worst games I"ve ever watched, much less superbowls

Didn't bother watching after the first half. I didn't have a horse in this race but was rooting for Chiefs like 90% of America. Brady did Brady things and the Bucs D is legit but man..... definitely one of the worst officiated 1st halfs I've ever watched, including replacement refs. Totally surprised they didn't give the Bucs the TD on that goa
l line stand too considering the other terrible calls.

KC was literally holding every play, those are legit calls but refs werent why Tampa won. They dominated in the trenches. KC's OL has the other team in headlocks every game.

The one at the end of that half was hilariously bad. Was dude going to grow another 5 feet to catch that pass in the back of the endzone? Call it defensive holding if you want, and it likely wouldn't affect the outcome of the game. But there was zero way that ball was catchable. I saw at least 2-3 other pretty blatant Bucs holds on scoring drives not called too.

Again, I didn't have a dog in this race. Ultimately, the Bucs shot themselves in the foot a bunch of times. And again, Brady is the GOAT, so not surprised he won. But the quality of the officiating (at least the half) that I watched was straight garbage. I

Just making this super bowl was enough to make Brady the GOAT imo, but he is the defensive GOAT not the offensive GOAT. Defenses just ball out at the right time for him. Brady had wanted to sign with the Saints. I feel like this would be a Saints SB win right now if Brees retired last year. He might have actually cost the Saints multiple SB rings by staying another year. Saints defense with Brady's defensive special sauce they might have gone 16-0.

Also, I am really sick and ****ing tired of wild card teams. Why are teams that arent the best in their own division playing to determine who is the best team in the game in the first place. Saints roflstomped the Tampa Bradys two games out of 3 we faced them yet Brady advanced in the playoffs. First the Nats now the Tampa Brady's. Its a bitter pill to swallow.I think Saints beat the Tampa Brady's 7 out of 10 if not 8 out of 10 times.

Both DPIs were bull****. The first one was incidental and arguably not catchable. Second one was not catchable at all and Evans ran into the defender.

Was there ever any doubt the referees were going to favor Tampa Bay? The narrative of an aging Tom Brady winning a Super Bowl the year he leaves the Patriots was far more compelling than a midwestern team repeating. You can almost always predict how the breaks will go in an NFL game by looking at what will make the league the most money.

Refs werent even close to the reason Tampa won.

Tampa wouldn't have been leading by much if anything at half time without the refs aid.

Tampa deserved the win because their defense was too legit. But the second and 3rd Touchdown were boosted by the refs. If the game was 10-6 Bucks or 13-10 Chiefs, is the game the same? Perhaps not. But it could have been.

I don't think that's a statement that can be made. It's entirely possible, maybe even probable that Tampa Bay wins if the game is fairly called. But we don't know htat. As Zito pointed out, the game would have been virtually tied at half if not for the refs.

There's a big difference between a nice lead and no lead. When you jump out to a lead you put pressure on the other team to get back into the game. They often have to abandon their game plan and try to be more aggressive. This allows you to have your pass rushers pin their ears back and light up the opposing QB. A lead changes the entire complexion of the game.

But whether or not they would have won without the refs help is irrelevant to my original point. The refs were going to be in favor of Tampa Bay whether they needed it or not. The Brady winning another Super Bowl storyline was too good to miss. The NFL is closer to professional wrestling these days than it is to a legitimate contest.

Refs didn't cause Mahomes to be pressured all night. The game was won/lost on Bucs D-Line dominating the Chief's O-Line.
