REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion at all. This is out of control rumor season… the Falcons are betting favorites to land like 5 QBs. Lots of other chatter saying the Falcons internally don’t think he’s a fit. Certainly he doesn’t really fit the usual McVay offense and Robinson said he values processing more than anything which doesn’t fit for Fields. Unless they can get him for a really cheap price and they still draft a QB somewhere to hedge their bets. But the Fields smoke is more media and narrative driven because he’s from the area. Don’t think it happens and I hope it doesn’t.

Also there’s no way in hell the Bears get that much for Fields. No chance.

Some GMs interviewed seem to think he will bring in 2nd round pick. Other's think 3rd round. This trade assumes he is worth a 2nd rounder.

Not sure why people are so high on McCarthy. Seemed like the classic game manager in college. I get he has the physical tools, but I was just never super impressed with him. Especially given Harbaugh's reputation as a good guru.

Bo Nix is a bit old at 24. And he seemed to benefit from playing in a favorable offense in a Pac 12 conference that plays zero defense, outside of Utah. He reminds me a lot of Kenny Pickett, which clearly isn't good.

The only QBs I think are 1st round worthy are Williams, Maye, Daniels, and Penix.

Not a huge JJ fan but they never needed to ask him to air it out with that Oline and stable of backs… he makes all the throws… moves well in the pocket… can scramble… big arm and accurate. Good NFL size. He’s also by all accounts a great leader, takes care of his body and has a great work ethic. He has it all we just don’t know if he can take over a game because he never really needed to. Beyond Maye, Williams, and Daniel’s… he’s next on my list although it would sting a bit to take him at 8

Can't believe any buzz this time of year... but seems like Williams could fall a couple spots. There's one rumor out there that thinks the Bears are shooting for Daniels.

This is one draft I don't even think Da Bears can screw up. Either you take Williams or you trade down a spot or 2 and take another QB or MHII

The mind wonders what trading back, taking MH3 and see what fields can do loaded up with weapons

After Daniels, the prospects are all a bit yikes... but I'd still pick JJ over Nix simply when looking at age and physical traits. But agreed... JJ was supposed to come in and light up the combine and he's just fine...

Some of his passes were just bad. The number of times a WR had to slow up significantly or he missed them.

Schefter hinting that Atlanta is actually not really in that much on Fields... that it may be the Steelers... makes so much more sense. Fields never made sense in Atlanta with Morris/Robinson... the media just wanted it because he was an Atlanta boy.

When will they stop non lineman from running the 40 from down technique? How well a WR or CB fires out from 3 point stance is worthless.

What a ****ing story. Russell Wilson tried to replace Pete Carroll with Sean Payton, instead Seattle trades him for a song to Denver, Denver cannot overcome that trade, hire Payton, who after 1 season cuts Russell Wilson. **** you cannot make up.

I would sign Wilson to a show me deal. Even if we take a QB, unless it's Williams or Penix, I'm not sure they're ready to go day 1 and learning with Wilson wouldn't be the worst thing.

Wilson got a lot of money in that deal. I can’t believe they just cut him

My hunch is Payton sold them on a rebuild. Probably even went as far to say he thinks he can get another Wilson/Brees high value second round pick this year.

Denver had a ton of issues, there's a lot of money tied into guys who're not worth it.

Pretty sure it’s gonna be Cousins in Atlanta. He was married in Roswell, his wife went to UGA, and now there are legit reporters saying they are looking at houses in Atlanta. If it’s Cousins, I hope it’s no more than 2 years and we still draft a QB to develop under him. In that case, the Tulane QB would be interesting.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, hell I'd take a 3rd round flyer on Rattler, hell I'd take a 7th round flyer on Kedon Slovis (though he doesn't have the arm) and see if he's a good fit.

Rattler is proven tool and just ran a 4.9 fyd. I would stay far away. You'd be better off with a guy like Joe Milton if you want a guy with a ton of upside, but a low chance of reaching it.

I don't really see any late round Qbs that are intriguing in this draft. Kedon Slovis has some athleticism as evidenced by his 4.55 fyd, but he doesn't have the arm strength or the accuracy to be a starting QB in this league, imo. Never been impressed by Pratt either.

Maybe Sam Hartman would be worth a late round flier. He sort of fits that Brock Purdy type.
