REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Put Mahomes or Allen on San Fran and they are a 15-17 win team who is expected to win the whole damned thing.

Ok - Sure thing.

Again, in two years when the player personel changes and the offensive line is invested in Purdy will still have sick numbers.

Its not just drops - Its literally TD pass drops.

And I see a ton of overthrown balls and bad toe drags, the latter is not a gimme especiall ywhen you're getting tight coverage and your QB throws to the shoulder you weren't looking at.

Multiple of those were legit horrible throws. Look at 1:20. Engram was wide open, all he had to do was hit him quickly or on the shoulder the defender can't get to without interfering with him, instead he throws it short and behind him. The very next play he underthrows his receiver, it wouldn't ahve been a TD with a catch because he threw it short of the endzone. That's not a highlight reel for your QB being let down by his receiver, compare those "drops" to real bad drops, like this dropped pass at 40 seconds by Bateman

Or this game Mahomes dealt with

Some of those are a bit too tall for his targets but many of those were gimmes that were dropped.

Not saying all of those should be TD's but you could easily make the case for five of them.

You need receivers to make plays on tightly covered plays but the fact of the matter is Lawrence is giving his receivers an oppotunity to come up with the ball. Thats what you want from your QB.

I don't think I said he was bad, I think I said there's no way he was anywhere near top 5 last year. Maybe top 10 at the end of it, but nowhere near top 5 and any stat that says that in valuation reconsider it.

Maybe, if that isn't the case get ready for another Alex Smith type of situation.

Alex Smith had a great team around him as well - Its not the same thing at all.

Not sure why you don't see it but Purdy from the shoulders up is an elite QB with how he is processing the game.

One report I saw says that Tua gets all 93 million of his signing bonus, regardless if he plays another snap. And if he has to retire due to medical reasons, he would likely still receive all of his guaranteed 167 million.

Listen is the advice of the Steve Miller Band and Take the Money and Run.

Even if it wasnt what good is money if you dont have health. He has earned a lot already. Maybe he cant afford to buy a new gold plated diamond necklace of his name every month but he has plenty to get by for the rest of his life, plus he could get an analyst job or any number of other jobs in the game.

And the hottest offense in the NFL is Derek Carr and the Saints. 47 points last week vs Panthers now 35 points 5 touchdowns in 5 possessions vs Cowboys. Scored on all 14 possessions through first 6 quarters of the season.

Kamara is single handedly carrying my fantasy team right now (well and Cook)

The Falcons could legit start the year 0-5. The Eagles are going to make them bite a curb tomorrow. They have no prayer against KC. The Saints look to be miles better than Atlanta and the Bucs look better than I was hoping.

If they go 0-5, their season is over. But how bad could it get?

After those 5 they play

Carolina- Likely win

Seattle-Likely lose

TB- Likely lose

Dallas- Likely win

NO- Likely lose

Denver- Likely lose

SD- Likely lose

Minn- Likely lose

Oak- Tossup

NYG- Likely win

Was- Likely win

Carolina- Likely win

That's 5 games they look like they'll probably win. They could fluke into another win or two but they could fluke into a loss or two.

If they go 0-5 to start, they're probably looking at, on the low end, 4 wins, and on the high end 8 wins. Even on the high end they won't make the playoffs.

If thing go sideways and they win just 4 after coming into this season not just expecting to make the playoffs but to make a deep run, could we see the Falcons clean house completely?

Well good thing they already got their QB of the future last year. Now if they pick top 3 they can trade down for a boatload of picks.

If we don't make the playoffs I fully expect Fontenot to be fired.

Thaty being said I think some of your likely losses are silly. Denver is Ass, Minnesota will be tough, Carolina only a likely win? Carolina is probably going to be one of the worst teams in NFL history.

Don't sleep on the Vikings. I'm generally a Packers' fan (but LaFleur and Gutekunst both have the personalities of a rock), but O'Connell is a really good coach. I don't know if they are a playoff caliber team, but if everyone stays healthy they won't be pushovers. I really hope Darnold has a good season. He's been in so many hopeless situations as a starter that he's due a little bit of good fortune.
