We're middle of the pack in performance and middle of the pack in results we're basically where we should be.
Pass rush is easily the biggest issues if you have a pass rush your DBs job gets easier. Teams become a bit mroe predictable etc.
Dont get me wrong, the Lions are good, but I will need to see them play the top teams in the NFL before declaring that. Chiefs, Bills, Eagles..they really have had a weak schedule. Dont give me the Vikings.
The Commanders certainly had interest. If I recall right, he was hired quickly though. They have loved him for several years and he was probably top 2 or 3 on the list.

With the Falcons I think we're seeing the problem of hiring a head coach because he's a "leader of men" or because "players want to play for him."
The best HCs in the NFL are brilliant on at least one side of the ball. Ried, Shanahan, McVay, Tomlin, etc are all extremely highly thought of for their ability on one side of the ball or the other. And their teams win games based on that unit's success.
Virtually every time Morris has taken over a defense it has gotten significantly worse. The Falcons defense might be the worst unit in the entire league.
Being likable and inspirational only takes you so far. When the results are poor players will lose faith and no amount of speeches or one on ones will save you. The Falcons quit on Morris Sunday. Not a good look for a "leader of men."

I doubt that it is true that Morris makes defenses worse. He wouldn't be my first choice but a CEO type head coach is not a bad idea either as long as he builds a strong staff.
The defense sucks bc they draft RBs, TE, WRs, and backup QBs in the first round.

It could just be coincidence but wherever Morris has taken over as HC or as DC has seen a drop in their defensive rankings. Also, his defenses and HC or DC have almost always finished bottom half of the league. This is across multiple teams.
The Falcons have some talent issues on defense but the defense shouldn't be a bottom 5 squad. Morris' scheme is abysmal. Instead of compensating for talent issues it magnifies them.

Yeah I don't get how Lions have had a weak schedule. They have won some big games on the road against teams likely to make the playoffs. The NFC North is easily the best division in the NFL right now and they are undefeated in the division.
Im not say they aren't good, but Im gonna need to see them beat teams better than Houston, Ari, GB, or Min before I just think they boatrace the NFC.
I don't know - I think it gets to a certain level of dominance where the opponent isn't as relevant as the teams actual performance.
If they were just skating by these teams I'd give more credence to this point of view.
The NFC North is not "easily" the best division in the NFL right now.
Lets look at EPA:
AFC North- Ravens- 3, Bengals 8, Steelers- 9, Browns-26
NFC North- Lions-1 (as I said good team), Viking- 7, Packers- 13, Bears - 22
The Lions have faced 1 top 10 team in the NFL in EPA and thats the Vikings.
The NFC is super weak this year so I could see them making the Super Bowl as they really only have to worry about the Eagles and Niners. There are 3 good NFC teams this year. (spare me if you think the Vikings are actually a good team with that offense). They have also played a weak schedule getting to beat up on the AFC South (and the Giants).
The AFC is stacked for sure.
The Lions obviously look good but beating up the Pack and Vikings dont really make me think they are believers. Or the Jags and Titans. Let me see them face a legitimate top 10 team in the NFL and if they win convincingly, then that will say a lot.
Just asking they play a couple top 10 teams. IF they do and win convincingly, sobeit. But not being these crappy teams.

NFC North is not the best division by that much. THat was true when the Bears weren't hot ****.
It's a tough division. But the Lions are stat padding by beating the bricks off the Cowboys, Jaguars lead by Mac Jones and TItans.

If memory serves you're a DVOA guy and the lions are historically great in that metric. Also doing this without their best player for half the year

New york falling apart. Giants officially end the Danny Dimes experiment (bet Daboll wish he didn't try to win so many games ihs firs tyear and let Danny Dimes flounder) Rodgers says he wants to play next year but not for the Jets who place him on injured reserve.
My prediction is Rodgers goes to Vegas and Adams retires out of pure annoyance.
