Trade or cut Kirk this offseason, feel like it's trending that way. Post June 1 would be 65 in total dead money, but if they could somehow find a trade, they'd save a LOT more. But probably gotta add a pick to have someone trade for him.

I have no clue who would want him. But someone may get desperate after the preseason if a QB blows a knee like what happened in Minny, but not in a system where O'Connell can make any ol QB look good. I just cannot imagine teams lining up for Cousins.

He’s gotta show the arm strength is back, and I’m not sure he will.

But yeah QBs are always in demand. Rough stretch and all, he’s still a top 25 option and some rosters need that

Vikings have the cap space to tag him but thats a dangerous game as well. Nevermind, the tag is 41M, thats probably too much. I think you probably just let Sam go, and hope JJ is good. But i can see the argument for keeping Sam, and letting JJ sit. I think they'll do the opposite though, and some team would throw him a bag if they're not picking in the top 2. No other QB is worth that high of a pick other than Ward/Sanders (not sure they are either but thats another discussion).

If they don't sign him to a Baker Mayfield deal, they will probably still tag him and trade him.

Titans will undoubtedly be in the market for a QB. Our GM will be entering year 3 and the average GM lifespan is 3 years, so if the Titans don't show major improvement in 2025, he is gone. There is probably no way he puts his future in the hands of a rookie QB.
My preference is Stafford or Geno. But Cousins makes a lot of sense too.

Hopefully the Titans pass on QB in the draft as this is a very poor QB draft class, while 2025 looks like it could be a generational class. With guys like Allar and Nussmeier returning and Manning, Nico, and Sellers being eligible, 2026 is where I hope the Titans find their future QB.

You think there's a shot Geno goes? I don't really but who knows. Seattle seems happy with him for the most part and they don't have someone coming through the pipeline.

I do think that there's a real chance the Titans could decide to take a gamble QB like Levis again and get a more stable vet like trading for cousins or signing Darnold. Like say it's the 2nd round or 3rd round and Nussmeier or Allar are there

I could see a 1-2 year deal for Darnold but somebody is going to overpay and then act dumb when it flames out.

Nuss and Allar are coming back to school. So, unless there's a Josh Allen type in the group of 5/FCS that balls out at the combine, the only 2 Qbs worthy of a 1st round pick are Sanders and Ward.

Ewers folds like a lawn chair under pressure. Same for Beck. Milroe is an athlete that plays QB. Richardson 2.0. He is not an NFL QB. Jaxon Dart and Dillon Gabriel are Bo Nix 2.0. Could be good in the right system, but they lack the top level athleticism to succeed without a lot of help around them. Riley Leonard is a Daniel Jones clone.

THats going to cripple whatever franchise that pays him. How many times does this have to happen before teams learn, lol

Maybe. But Baker is doing well for Tampa. Tanny did good for the Titans for 2-3 years. Geno did has done well for Seattle. Veteran QBs seem to be finding more success in todays NFL than they did previously.

Not that its a flawless metric but as an example, Darnolds QB rating is 60... PFF rating is a bit better, but Im not a big fan of that metric. Darnolds QBR is lower (at his current peak) that a few of Tanneyhilll seasons). Bakers QBR is even lower than Darnolds. Geno Smiths is not really even close to theres.

But the problem is that Darnold wont be a low budget vet QB, he's going to get paid based on counting stats. Hes gonna get the Scott Mitchell deal.

You might be able to be somewhat competitive in the NFL with a league average vet QB, but its not the way to consistently win anything meaningful. That gets too much money.(Cousins a good example and he's better than all of these QBs mentioned) You have to either have a stud QB or a good QB on a rookie deal if you want to win.

Geno is the better comp for Darnold. Baker was a good QB for Cleveland who they gave up on because of an injury. Look at Baker's 2020 season, that was a good seaosn, especially for a 3rd year QB who's top WR was Jarvis Landry. If Cleveland got him weapons instead of giving up on him, they could be in a much better situation than trading all those 1s for a Rapist.

Darnold is the product of O'Connell's system. He's a lot like Shanny where if you have a decent head on your shoulders you'll be productive. And Darnold has been good. But he's playing on a team that's got a great offensive coach, 2 great receivers in Jetta and Addison.

You point out Baker as someone working out, but I'll counter with Daniel Jones. He got paid off of one good season with a strong offensive minded coach (Daboll) who then proceeded to suck when the offense revolved around him. Some guys are better bit players than stars. That's fine. But they're not guys you should be paying 30+ million for. Geno is OK at 25M and only like 30M guaranteed at signing (IIRC they can cut him after this year and only have like 13M in dead cap or they keep him and he counts 38 vs. cap, likely if they want to keep him they'll extend him again)

Terry Fontenot needs to be fired. THis is on him. He is the one who vouched for Morris and Cousins. He needs to be fired and an new GM needs to be brought in, if they wnat to keep morris, whatever, but TF sold blank on Cousins and Morris and the results are no better than AS with TF having tons of money for the cap.

Barring an improbable deep playoff run, TF has to be gone. I just don't see how, after barely surviving Smith's departure, he could screw up with Cousins this badly and keep his job. The guy is a lousy GM.

Personally, I'd clean house. Fire TF, McKay, and the entire coaching staff. Then I'd go hire a new GM and let the new GM pick a new HC.

I mean I"d let the GM pick the coach,if you fire the whole staff the GM doesn't get a say.

Jones didn't even have a good season, LOL. The Giants paid him for some unknown reason.

His 2022 is kind of comparable to this year for Darnold.

https://stathead.com/football/versu...player_id2=JoneDa05&p2yrfrom=2022&p2yrto=2022

His QBR in 2022 was 62.9 to Darnolds 60.9. Darnold has an EPA of -0.5 this year to Jones's 2.1 that year.

It's eerily similar in a lot of ways. Darnold has shown better passing skills but just thepassing wasn't the selling point on Jones. Especially after putting up those running numbers people were dreaming of a lite version of Josh Allen.

thethe would be proud of me, I defender Purdy on Reddit when someone said the Niners should trade him. I said it would be foolish unless omeone traded a top 10 pick and many other 1s and the Niners knew they had another QB who could play like him. WHich is basically 0.000000!%
