REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I am old and went to bed at the end of regulation, but it didn't surprise me that Daniels took the ball and spearheaded the winning drive with both his arms and legs. He stays healthy so that his threat as a runner remains intact and he is going to be a headache for whichever team he faces. Amazed that he's doing this well as a passer without a stellar set of receivers. Outside of McLaurin, it's a lunch bucket group, but they work hard and Daniels meshes well with them. That said, one more speed guy on the outside and the Commanders are going to be an offensive juggernaut.

Yeah, I was not sold on the pick at all but all training camp, the coaches praised him. It wasnt "hes gonna take time, he will be good." Right out the gate, they were saying this dude can play. His abilities as strictly a passer were what sold me, he could be a starting QB without running. He never let the game phase him. Their WRs are hot garbage. Terry is a guy I will always love but he's not a top 10 number 1 type so he gets locked up by good corners. There other WRs are guys they pick up off the street...Zachias,Brown, Osborn. Ertz is a shell of his prime self but made a couple tough catches.

They had 2 starters on the OL out and the backup (3rd string) RT out. They 2 WRs out. It didn't matter bc Daniels just kept balling.

So here's the playoff scenarios at play (I can see)

AFC - Mostly settled a few things that are up in the air

Ravens need to beat or tie CLeveland or Pit to lose or tie Bengals to clinch division.

Seeds are locked to division winners (KC 1, Buf 2, Bal/Pit3, Hou 4)

Only Denver, Miami and Bengals are in the playoff picture. Denver wins or ties and they're in. Miami needs a denver loss and a win, Cincy needs a denver and miami loss and a win. Mostly settled, Baltimore should beat cleveland (though it would be funny for them to lose) and Denver should beat the CHief's backups.

NFC has a lot more open.

Obviously we know that the winner of Detroit and Minnesota wins the number 1 seed and NFC North. If Detroit loses to SF tonight, they'll need to win and technicalyl they could just need a tie in week 18.

**** Mountain is the BUcs unless they lose.

Commanders and Packers will play for seeding. Packers need to have a better result than the commanders to not get the 7th seed. Will be interesting to see how those 2 teams approach it, do they rest banged up players or go hard because they'd much rather face the Rams than the Eagles.

Gotta try to win. Playing in LA vs. the Rams is a lot easier than playing in Philly.

I think the throwing is what separates him from RGIII. When Daniels was drafted, I immediately thought of the dual-threat RGIII, but Daniels is much more polished.

Ertz is a shell of his former self, but I think he is one of the more underrated TEs of the past couple of decades and can still come up big. I've always had mad respect for the guy.

RG3 was a great passer. Kyle SHanahan killed him (like he did Lance) Shanny needs a pocket passer or he designs horrible run plays that gets QBs murdered.

But also RG3 had a flaw where he wouldn't check down. He either throw to his first look (who he'd look at at the line to see the matchup) or he'd dump to his checkdown or run.

Beck will be the sure fire #1 QB by the end of the year.

Beck easily has NFL arm strength, he plays in a pro style system, and has shown the ability to make all the throws. There's a good chance he goes early.

That being said, he suffers from Kirby Smart running a very balanced offense. Georgia is going to run the ball a lot. You're right in that there will undoubtedly be a QB somewhere that goes off. They'll blow Beck's stats out of the water because they're the only thing keeping their offense going.

Ehhh… you haven’t followed the UGA WR room very closely. It’s the deepest and best it’s ever been.

Some hot takes here. Told you guys Beck was mid and got propped up by Bowers and McConkey. He's a 3rd round QB at best. And UGA's WR room was never remotely any good. Even before Rara Thomas got kicked off the team.

RG3s knee killed him.

RG3 came into the NFL extremely raw. He had talent as a passer but that Baylor system was very easy to use. Kyle designed the perfect offense for him to allow him to play well outside of the gate. But, RG3 always needed the ability to run to supplant his passing ability, he was never going to be a pure drop back passer that could beat teams without the threat of the run (I do think Daniels is different in this regard).

Welp

At least Bijan, Drake, and Penix look like an exciting core (plus Lindstrom).

Rest of roster needs to be fired into the sun

Jessie Bates is great.

But yeah need to get some **** taken care of for sure.

Fire TF, let the GM decide to fire Raheem.

See if anyone will give us anything for Pitts so we don't lose him to Free Agency for nothing.

After that take BPA on the line at 15. Either a Tackle or Edge.

I’m fine keeping Pitts another season. He’s fine. Maybe Penix and he will develop chemistry (lol)

Falcons probably should just clean house, but they won’t so I bet they bring Terry and Raheem back.

It’s boring but there’s probably not much they can do with Kirk’s dead cap hit next year.

I no longer can bring myself to get emotionally invested in the Falcons, but the franchise remains pathetic and unserious nonetheless. There is zero chance they fire Raheem. Even if they did, they're not getting a difference-making coach. There's also no evidence to suggest they would replace Fontenot with a good, competent GM who would be allowed to run things his way.

Then you're stuck extending Pitts if he's good or he leaves for nothing. Not saying we'll get anything for him but he wound up with over 600 yards. Which hopefully someone would give us a 4th for him I don't really care. I just want to move on from the PItts experiment.

So glad to have a coach go for it on 4th and 5 in a 0-0 game vs kick a 56 yard for.

A lot of coaches do that. Unless you have prime-Justin Tucker because it's a probability game where if you lose you actually probably have better field position conceded than a missed FG
