Honestly, I think the Falcons are winning the division with a competent head coach. Imagine if we hired Mike Macdonald. Raheem is truly incompetent. I get he's a player coach, but he's obviously not good at his job.

I agree. With a competent HC they'd be talked about as one of the most exciting young teams in the league. With Raheem they're a laughing stock.

I'm just exhausted with this team. Like I love BIjan, I love London, there's lots of other great things about this team. They'll point to injuries, but every team has injuries. It's the job of the coaches to get the most of their talent. And the falcons are not doing that.

Falcons look to be on the way to a 5-12 finish or worse and don't have a first-round pick.

I like Pearce fine but you can only make that trade if you have confidence you’re going to be a winning team.

Nah they'll be better than 5-12, I suspect they'll be 8-9 or 9-8. THe back half of the schedule is generally easier for them. For high probable wins they have Panthers at home, 2 games vs. the Saints (though they probably lose one) and @ Jets. and honestly they should also beat the Cardinals. How well they played the Colts and Pats is a good sign. If they carry that play vs. much worse teams they could easily sneak out 6-8 wins the rest of the way. Like the only game I see that I see as probable losses are Rams, Seahawks, and Bucs and 2 of thsoe are home games so they could be upsets.
The problem is that Raheem and Terry's lack of building a special teams and terrible in game management have probably cost us at least 3 wins. We could be a winning team with better special teams and defense.
THat being said, the losses to Miami and Carolina are embarrassing as hell. And yeah we could lose a bunch of games we should win, but I wouldn't say we look to be on our way to 5-12. We should be 4-5 or 5-4 right now, and would be looking at 10 or more wins as a high potential. THat's the part that sucks. We'll probably be around .500 but with better coaching and GMing we would be a winning team. It baffles me that we didn't go get a kicker this offseason. Nick FOlk is arguably the best kicker in the NFL this year,
The average kicker in the NFL this year (which we're bringing it down) going into this week was kicking an avergae of 83.6% while we're at 76.5%. THe average team this year has kicked 4.5 attempts from 50 or more and made 3.0. We've kicked 2 and made 1. 40-49 average team kicked 4.8 and made 3.9 we kicked 4 and made 2.
Hell this year in the NFL 5 kickers have already made 60 or longer field goals. Which either ties or sets a record and we're just over half way through the season. There's never been a better time to be a kicker in the NFL. And we decided to keep trying with Koo. Fucking moronic.

Where are the 5 wins coming from? I’m thinking they split the two Saints game and split the home game against the Panthers and the game against the Jets. They’re not good enough, or the coaching isn’t good enough, to run the table on those four. Who else are they beating? Maybe Arizona?

I mean even in your scenario that's 6 wins, more than 5.
I don't think we split the Saints, the Saints are really bad. While we have issues, I don't think we're that bad.
Basically I see for wins. Saints twice, Panthers, Jets, Cardinals and I think we could pull an upset of @Tampa, Seattle or LAR. We could be the team that's overlooked. Rams could be in an interesting position by that point of the season where they may not need to play the last 2 weeks of the season.
You're not wrong, I just don't think it's probable. If we can carry the energy we brought to the games vs. the Pats and Colts who are 2 of the better teams in the NFL we should be able to beat the Jets, Saints and Panthers. The only team worse than the Saints are the Titans and the only teams worse than the Jets are the 2 mentioned before and the Browns.
I suspect we get 8-9 wins. Maybe we get 7. 7-10 agian would be fucking funny as hell.

One thing is for sure: While I mostly watch the Falcons as a comedy show these days, there is no reason for a professional team to be this bad in all aspects of special teams play.
If Pearce works out it's irrelevant. It's just moving 1 first rounder for another. And the Falcons likely are not gonna have a shot at a better pass rusher this draft than what Pearce already is. Plus, Pearce now has an additional year of experience over whatever 1st rounder you theoretically could have selected this upcoming draft.

I don't see the Falcons going better than 5-3 over their final 8. They should beat the Saints twice, the Panthers, the Jets, and the Cards. They should lose to the Bucs, Rams, and Seahawks. They might win a game they should lose but they'll also probably lose a game they should win.
Going 5-3 puts them at 8-9, the exact same record as last year and another losing season.
Arthur Smith went 7-10 three times and got fired. Morris has had way more resources to work with and is looking at a gain of only one game. Yikes.
I think you're starting to see some cracks in the Falcons coaching staff. Drake was obviously frustrated in his post game comments. The body language on this team is terrible. And it appears Allgiers liked an Instagram post calling for the firing of Robinson as OC. Combine that with the Ike firing and RayRay cutting and things are looking more and more dysfunctional.
I called hiring Morris a disaster when it happens. I hate always being right.

It depends. At the moment, that first rounder they gave up might be a top 10 pick and they also gave up a second round pick from this year’s draft as well.
But yea, if Pearce turns into a pro bowler, then it’s water over a bridge

In defense of the trade. They wound up getting watts by trading back from 2nd to 3rd. Can't count on Terry still getting that good of a pick in the second round.

This organization isn't real. Fire every single person from McKay down. Only Ulrich earned his spot. But I'd still want a coach to pick their coordinator.

Did you see the comments by Penix about how he doesn't have anyone to discuss on field issues with? It makes the fact Penix never has anyone around him on the sidelines extra concerning.

Yeah, I don't fault the HC or OC for not talking to him because they have other jobs. but the QB coach should be there every drive. What else does he have to do? And that's a fireable HC/OC offense, their main job is to make sure the team runs and the coaches do their job

Most other qbs find a spot on the bench with OL and skill groups and review tablets and talk about whys going on
