REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Falcons still have games with Saints x2, Jets, Cardinals, and they should have beaten the Bucs the first game. But thats at least gonna be a top 12-13 pick if Falcons finished say 6-11/7-10.
Life finds a way, and the falcons will find a way to lose spectacularly to the Saints.

That being said, a turnaround under Kirko Chainz to save Raheem and Zac's jobs would be the most Falcons thing to do. Go on a tear and win 6 games and just get over .500 and getting an upset win over the Rams would be the most falcons move.

At this point I'd be shocked if the Falcons win more than 6 this year. Kirk is a shell out there and I doubt he stays healthy the rest of the way. That means Easton Stick at QB. Drake is literally our only WR and is out this week and maybe more. The OLine is banged up. Teams have figured out the defense. The special teams are wretched.

Oh, and Raheem Morris is still going to screw up 3-4 times a game.

So I say 6 wins total is the upper limit. 4 or 5 is still on the table.

39 sacks in 11 games. Probably the best pass rush the Falcons have had in decades. Even better, the bulk of those sacks from players drafted last two seasons.

Unfortunately, all the resources spent on the offense have amounted to jack diddly.

Part of the problem was the waste of later round talent from the offense. Other teams get value from their late picks, aside from Allgeier and Dalmon, what great value have we gotten from our late round picks. And that's what great teams do is get value out of them. Anyone can get a great first round pick. Most can get a good 2nd round pick. EVen 3rd round picks should regularly contributes. What sucks is Terry missed hard on 3rd round picks too, Ridder and Mayfield are epically bad. For example that year the lions drafted Kerby Joseph.

Second round has been tough for us as well. Ebeketie has been marginal, Andersen was as boneheaded a pick as they come, and let's not forget Ritchie Grant.

True, I was too busy staring at the 3rd round picks. I'm willing to give him a tiny bit of leeway with those because that was an all time bad draft. And with how good London wound up being, Ican give a tiny bit of grace. Andersen was a pretty solidly regarded prospect, he was ranked 51 by PFF and 54 by nfl.com. Same thing with Ebiketie, he was right around the ranking of where he was drafted.

My bigger gripe is his total lack of fear of trading picks. THis year he traded our future 1 and our current 2 and 7 for a 1 and 3. but we also gave up our 2026 5th rounder to get Watts. I don't think that was a bad draft, but starting the year with 5 picks is brutal. We came into this draft with only 5 picks because of Judon trade and losing a pick for being stupid about Kirk Cousins.

I give him no leeway for Andersen. Draft publications can be lured in by shiny combine numbers but an NFL team needs to do better homework. If you're going to spend a second rounder on a guy who has minimal experience and played at a glorified high school, you better know what you're doing. TF didn't.

As for trading picks, I'll add trading up to get Ruke when it wasn't remotely necessary to get him.

One of our roster's biggest flaws is its lack of depth. Someone gets hurt and the dropoff is extreme. Trading picks and the large number of second and third round misses is why that is.
