To me the halftime show is an opportunity to get a plate full of food and to refill the drink. I really don't care who's performing because I won't be watching anyway.
When the halftime show hits it hits hard. The problem is most produced ones have kind of sucked.
If you start with MJ and go from there (I'm bias MJ is the first one I remember)
MJ - Amazing
Country variety - Meh
Indiana Jones theme - lol
Diana Ross - Meh
Blues Brothers Bash - Kind of hilariously bad
Motown 40 - Maybe the best of it's era of weird disjointed collabs
Soul Salsa and Swing - I recall liking things, mainly Stevie Wonder is a legend. But I don't recall it being truly excellent
Disney again - This one sucked.
Kings of Rocka nd Pop - With Motown the best of the weird disjointed collabs. But I'm not shocked that this worked because everyone here is a polished performer.
U2- Ugh
Shania Twain No Doubt - I honestly don't remember this. and I went and quickly reviewed it, it was really disjointed. It was like 2 different shows that had little chemistry
Janet Jackson's Boob - I mean without this finale, no one would remember this, this show sucked.
Paul McCartney - Ugh
Rolling Stones - One of the better fogey shows, but Stones are great showmen
Prince - GOATed. This was perfect as he was a legend, but not so old that you felt weird watching Grandpa trying to be sexy.
Tom Petty- eh. Don't remember this one.
Springsteen - the best of the fogeys. Springsteen did a great medley of hits blended in a very springsteen way,
the Who - The worst fogey one. I love the who, but this was 1/2 the OG members and they were very old and Daltrey cannot sing anymore.
Black eyed Peas - Hilariously bad
Madonna - Again, really bad,
Beyonce - Great performance, even if you don't like her it was a great performance.
Bruno Mars - outside of the weird RHCP, this was dope. I feel like Bruno was still probably a little too new to the game to have the hits to do this. But he killed it.
Katy Perry - Really well produced, similar to Beyonce, even if you dont' like the music you have to respect the performance
Cold Play - Bleh - The best part was Bruno Mars and Beyonce's performance. But this isn't surprising, Cold Play is not a party band. No one really wants to hear fix you at half time show.
Gaga - One of the best. But again not surprising, Gaga wasn't in her peak of popularity as a performer any more but still was young, her hits were still relevant,
Justin Timberlake - Snore. This one sucked.
Maroon 5 - Another bad one.
Shakira and JLo - This is a great performance, not in the top tier but it's still an impressive performance. Again not really shocking, Shakira is an exceptional performer, I don't care for either of their music much but it was a good performance.
The Weeknd - Really weird, part of it was empty stadium, but the other part was the weird need to use the empty stadium. Like why?
Dre - Another all timer - This combines nostalgia for multiple generations, Early 90s, early 2000s, mid 2000s etc. And it was a well produced show unlike the weeknd.
Rihanna - Solid show, her being pregnant probably hurt some of the physicality of the performance.
Usher - Will probably be a pretty forgetable performance,
Kendrick - A great performance. Really well produced, also it's still funny as hell he called Drake a pedo on the most popular broadcast in the world.
