REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Try reading the story and what Rob Parker said, lol.

You are right, there is no liberal bias in the media...........Talking about Sam everyday is just because it's such a compelling story to hear how he showers.

What story? You selected a few quotes that you apparently felt made your case.

Why won't you address the fact that him being engaged to a white woman has nothing to do with "liberal bias," and that it was retarded to even bring that part up? What does that have to do with anything?

You're an idiot. We're not talking about the media as a whole. Are news channels making a big deal out him signing with the Cowboys? If you honestly think the first openly gay player in the NFL is not going to get some coverage, you're gonna have a bad time. But it's common sense that it would get a lot of coverage. It has nothing to do with "liberal media." Paranoid dumbasses love to blame everything on "liberal media." Like it's the boogeyman.

I'll be willing to wager I'll wind up less than 50% right cause the NFL is crazy.

NFC Easy

Eagles

Cowboys

Redskins

Giants

NFC North

Packers

Lions

Bears

Vikings

NFC South

Saints

Falcons

Bucs

Panthers

NFC West

Seahawks

Rams

Niners

WC Rams and Falcons

AFC Championship Broncos over Texans

NFC Champions Falcons over Niners

Superbowl Falcons ove Broncos

If i'm gonna be wrong, I might as well be a homer and be wrong.

You have the Niners in third place and not making the playoffs. Then they are in the NFC Championship and losing.

My predictions:

Patriots
Dolphins
Bills
Jets

Bengals
Ravens (WC)
Steelers
Browns

Colts
Texans
Titans
Jaguars

Broncos
Chargers (WC)
Chiefs
Raiders

Chargers over Colts
49ers over Sehawks

49ers over Chargers

If the 49ers make the playoffs they will be firing on all cylinders with everyone healthy. Just have to find a way to navigate the first 6-8 games of the schedule.

Yeah they just need to tread water. Hopefully the defense will be intact for the first game against the Sehawks.

Its really on the offense...mainly Kap for these games. They need to shoulder the load early on and open things up. The weapons are there.

I also think the defense is underrated with all the missing people. Whilhoite did a great job when he was on hte field last year for Willis. As long as one of Bowman/Willis are on the field we will be good. When both are out there its unfair. I also think our outside linebacker depth is among the best depth on the team. I'm also very bullish on the secondary. Brock was a stud last year as was Reid. Culliver was really good in 2012 and Ward looked solid in preseason. The defense won't be a top defense for the first half of the year but there is no way its a bottom tier defense.

Why did a 4-3 team cut him?

Because they have a lot of bodies and a good defense?
Clearly they disagree with gilesfan's assessment that he can't play a 4-3. They wouldn't have taken a chance on him in the draft if they felt the same way. It's not like his size changed once he got to the NFL - they knew his size and what his general skills were. I would assume the Rams' organization knows more than you, so you can go ahead and admit you were wrong.

And they felt he wasn't good enough. Certainly bad enough to cut a guy that was a draft pick (and not even try to put him on the practice squad, it appears) Undersized guys get drafted all the time, they hardly ever work out.

Good luck with him in Dallas. I know your defense does suck, but please put Sam on the active roster and play him at DE.

OMG, if Kap doesn't look like a HOFer on Sunday, you have to be concerned.

DE George Selvie
DT Nick Hayden
DT Henry Melton
DE Jeremy Mincey
LB Bruce Carter
LB Rolando McClain
LB Justin Durant
CB Brandon Carr
CB Morris Claiborne
S Barry Church
S J.J. Wilcox

I don't want to get too up or down on one game but I do think it will be a bad sign if the 49ers don't have a huge offensive day.

There is also the distinct possibility that the NFL pressured some team to sign him to avoid the media back lash for not drafting the first openly gay player. It isn't like he's some top end talent. If we never heard Michael Sam is gay, what are the odds he's not even drafted?

To be fair he did perform well in pre-season. I think he deserves a chance. I don't buy a league wide conspiracy to get him signed to the Cowboys. I think its a money grab by Jones more than anything.

Never said the Cowboys signed him due to league pressure. That doesn't fit with Jerry Jones. What we do know is that Jerruh loves the media attention and he loves bringing in big names, regardless of talent level.

Their defense is god awful though, and signing any warm body to the practice squad makes sense. Doubt he plays much, if at all, in any games though.

I guess I'll answer that question with another question... When was the last time the SEC DPOY wasn't drafted?

Here's a list of SEC Defensive players of the year. Some were drafted low and did nothing in the NFL. It's not like SEC Defensive Player of the year automatically means you can play in the NFL.

Jarvis Jones
Morris Claibrorne
Patrick Peterson
Rolando McClain
Eric Berry
Glenn Dorsey
Patrick Willis
Demeco Ryans
David Pollack
Chad lavalais

Why did a 4-3 team cut him?

Because Stl has the best DL in the NFL?

And this.

No it doesn't, but that wasn't the question posed. But it is pretty close to a lock that you get drafted.

The worst pick amond that group was a 5th rounder by the Falcons. Chad Lavalard as he become known from Falcons fans and Sam has already shown more than that lump.

But, then again, most of them have body types that transition to the NFL game. Michael Sam is the definition of a tweener
