REAL FOOTBALL Thread

First game of the season doesn't tell us much. The Eagles should be easily the best team in that division by default.

They will win 12 games this year IMO.

I would bet my entire bank account that the Eagles don't win 12 games.

They are probably the class of the NFC East, but they have major issues. The defense is not bad, it's terrible. Their WR core is adequate, but not a big strength. Foles is a good QB, imo, but not one of the top in the NFL.

What's weird about the NFC East, is that they may have the best division for running backs in the NFC. them and the West would be the 2 that come to mind. Murray, Morris, and McCoy are all fantastic, but their defenses are terrible. They can't take advantage of a dominant running game the way the Niners or Seahawks do because they have stifling defenses so keeping their defense off the field is a competitive advantage. Teams like the Niners and Seahawks can out attrition you. They can fall behind but wear your defense down with running and their defense holds well enough. The way to beat them is if you match up well (like when they play each other) hope you get the breaks, or to get out so far ahead of them you force them to break from their strength. Forcing Kaepernick or Wilson to become a traditional QB is the way to beat them.

Kind of interesting listening to some sports media and radio guys talk about how desensitized we've become to violence through tv shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones and violent video games, etc. Not one of them has bothered to mention violent sports like football and boxing.

Liberal Media, ftw!

I think the cards could be the forth best team in the nfl. But we will have a whole season to find out.

You realize their QB is Carson Palmer, right? And that Fitz has slowed down and they don't have a ton of weapons for him.

Cards are gonna be better than the Niners this yr. You heard it here first

You've said negative things about the 49ers for the last three years. At some point you'll be right. This time however won't be that time. 49ers are getting two of the top 10 defensive players in football back by midseason. Only team beating them is Seattle if they meet in the postseason.

So we've declared the Cardinals one of the four best teams in the league after a 1-point win late at home.

I'm gonna go ahead and call the Falcons the best offense in the league and NFC South champs.

I can't, because at no time does it seem that he favors them.

It goes both ways. He's critical and objective..but obvious he would prefer Dallas to be successful. Aikman cant look objective or reasonable because his analysis will be discounted due to his ties to Dallas. Which isn't fair. He's solid

Setting the NFC West stage..

We have 3 of the top 4 teams in the NFL...thats why San Fran is the greatest team...ever.

Carlos Hyde real deal HOF

It's the continual build up from last year as well. You know the only team that has beaten the Hawks in Seattle the last two years are the cards righg?

I remember being laughed at 3 years ago when I said that Seattle would have the best defense in the nfl. I know the NFC west.

They also missed the postseason. I'm not saying they won't be very good, but let's let them play a few more games here.

They missed the playoffs because they are in the NFC West and have to play Seattle and SF twice. You are right in that things can change over the course of a season but I see no reason to think that a well coached team like Arizona is going to fall off from the momentum they built last year.

Hyde is the real deal. I am all over that bandwagon. Would have loved to have him on the saints if we weren't 3 deep at rb.

Yeah, its only been pre-season and one game of real ball but what I've seen is what I saw in all of his college highlights. A very decisive big runner who while doesn't have elite top speed he hits the hole hard and fast. Guy is going to have a bright future as long as he can avoid a big injury.

If this was 10-15 years ago a back like Hyde would have been picked in the top 10.

Except it's not the same team as last year.......

Fitz is a shell of his old self, Dockett is on IR, Mathieu is out and who knows if he will be the same, they still have no running game and Carson is still their QB.

They were middle of the pack in pretty much every offensive category last year, the D carried them and now that D is without Dockett and Mathieu and Abe, I'm guessing isn't getting 12 sacks again.
