REAL FOOTBALL Thread

There is something to be said of a QB that doesn't have to worry so much because of how great the defense is. I will agree with that point. Wilson doesn't go into any game thinking he HAS to play great.

How did this theory do with Kap?

I think Wilson is very, very good but the fact of the matter is he's not asked to get into shootouts or do as much as others.

Most of the time if he turns it over, they hold to FG's or get him the ball right back.

Thats all im saying here.

So Wilson is very, very good? That's all anyone was saying.

If he turns the ball over it negatively impacts his stats the same way whether or not his defense holds the other team. Thus it doesn't matter what his defense does unless you believe in "pressure" which Zito brought up. But even that is a vague, unproven concept.

How do you even begin to qualify that?

Aside from the fact that there is literally zero evidence of those being significant.

I think in our quest to find ways to quantify everything we overthink things. There are just natural truths that exist in the world as a result of human nature. To discount that Wilson does not have as much pressure as these other QB's because of their all time great defense and the impact that has is really selling short how we respond to our environments.

Right and he doesnt need to score 30+ PPG a game like some QB's do.

He throws it 200 times less a year, if he had to throw it then he would have as many yards as Luck.

Again, how is he 7th in Y/A if he's a game manager. Anytime you want to answer that would be swell.

Hold on friend. I am saying that Wilson is a really good QB. I'm only bringing up this point because I'm not sure I put him top 5.

Also, Seattles defense is legendary. Easily top 5 defense of all time and one could make the argument that since its happening in this offensive happy era that its the best of all time. Its insulting to the Seahawks defense to try and make any comparison to the 49ers defense, which is still good in its own right.

I never said he sucks but thethe is right, there is something to be said knowing you dont know have to put up a 30 burger every week.

Because their defense holds the other team to 17-20 almost usually.

So you dont think it isnt an advantage that he knows going into games they dont have to score 30 a week because of the defense being so great.

But when there exists no actual correlation between something and an environment, why should we arbitrarily assign importance to those things?

This is an excellent case in point because in order to diminish what Wilson does we have to assign a false narrative to prove that point. It's silly more than anything else.

I am saying that exactly. Any advantage that may bring is starting field position and his passing attempts.

But you could inversely argue that Wilson gets less garbage time passing attempts where quarterbacks like Jay Cutler gets to inflate his passing statistics.

It's hard to say what the impact his defense has on his passing stats.

Have to disagree, I mean he still has to make plays. But when you have one of the best running attacks in the NFL, and one of the best defenses, you're gonna take less risks. Also add that the improved running game will often buy you time.

I'm also of te opinion that Wilson benefits heavily from his system. It was constructed brilliantly to play to his strengths and minimize his weaknesses (mainly height)

Big Rex headed to Buffalo. Disappointed. Was hoping to see him land somewhere with a real QB (Atlanta would've worked). Instead he winds up with Jets part II.

Bills are far better than Jets. All they need is QB play. They have a top defense all ready and sick WR options.

I would have went with an offensive coach but Rex with a good Oc is nasty

No this is twice he was spurned BY Blank.

All the reports say Atlanta was his first choice, but that we simply never scheduled the second interview.

The first time he chose Ny over Atl.

Read those same reports about a lack of second interview too way after the initial report came out.
