REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Philly people are hilarious. I worked at the Linc during their 4-12 season a couple years ago. NO ONE gave a **** about that team towards the end of the season, or even a little more than halfway through. Attendance way down, no one buying anything, people just shrugging off their sucking.
But then they call people fair weather fans. They are as guilty as anyone. Cowboy fans aren't significantly different, there's just a lot more of them, and everyone, even those that hate them, care more about them than any other team.

Only Phillies fan when they're good. No one gave a **** about that team for a decade, and no one cares now. I can't get a Phillies fan to even talk about baseball. They know little, and care less.
No one cares about the Sixers and won't until they're good, whenever that is (me included).
Hockey fans in general are rabid, and Flyers fans are good.
 
Being outside of Texas, I don't know 1 Mavs fan or Stars fan. I know dozens of Cowboys fans.
 
Being a fan of teams in one city doesn't make someone a better fan. They are as fair-weather as anyone. The Cowboys will naturally have fans everywhere. Debate it now, but when they were called "America's Team," it was legit. They have the most fans and are worth the most. Their name is bigger than any other football name globally. There's a reason they're so polarizing, people love them or hate them, and their style of football in the 90s brought in a lot of fans.

Sooo what? What does that prove?
Obviously the Cowboys have fans all over the country. No one would debate that. And many of them became fans because they were really good and have a rich history. No one debates that. Any team that had similar success in a similar fashion would have this happen. Most franchises don't come close (Washington Redskins...).
 
As of last night I've decided to be a fan of the Hawks, Giants, Seahawks, and Blackhawks. You guys can't **** with me in terms of fandom.

Why would you root for a team you have no connection to? You choose them bc they are winning so you want to be a fan of a winning team; which is a terrible reason to be a fan (a lot of women do this)

There are scenarios where it makes sense (Dad was from Boston, now lives in Georgia and now yall are Red Sox fans in Georgia)...you grew up in Boston and had to move to Cali.

You are a fan of the Braves, Thunder, Niners...........all 3 teams were winners when you became a fan...so why are you a fan of that team? Have you ever been to a Thunder or Niners home game? Do you have a single tie to those teams besides them being winners?

Being a Braves fan makes sense for a lot of people that don't have a hometown team bc of TBS. Being a fan of a team in Atlanta, SF, and Oklahoma City is ridiculous.

Is that a "worse" reason then you live 20 miles from the stadium? You can support your team in other ways than going to the stadium you know in the 21st century. Why does it matter to go to the games?

Some folks root for players. Tons of UT fans are Broncos fans just because of Peyton.
