REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Rumor is there is going to be huge news of a 49er nobody expects to not be on the team next year.

What a joke this front office is right now. Laughing stock of the league. I hope York is happy when the team is awful and he is sitting in his new stadium with pissed off fans.

I hope they sign a bunch of FAs and then mortgage their future for Mariota. It would be horrendously dumb.

It would, but if anyone could pull that stunt off, it would be Chip Kelly. I actually really like the way he is managing his roster. Mariota would be a huge get for them, especially if they could somehow get a 2nd for Foles. There are a lot of teams that could use Nick Foles.

McPhee to Chicago.

Boy I hope ATL is pretty confident in their approach. They may be waiting to see if someone slips through the first wave and can be had on the cheap.

Honestly, I'm wondering if the FO approach is to build aggressively for the future, since Carolina and New Orleans are set up poorly for the future. But that's really risky in a league where one qulaity draft can turn an organization around. I also really hope we're not naive enough to go without 3 LBs who can start in the NFL before the draft.

Would love for them to get 2 LBs a DE and a TE in FA. They hvae a health chunk of cap change they should be able to do that if they don't go for the top guys.

I would think so easily. Problem is the Pass Rush isn't a quick fix unless you throw money at it...

Seems like Jordan Cameron's market has been VERY quiet.

They would have to give up so much for Mariota. That's why I hope they do it. I don't think they're a much better team, if at all, for next year so far.

I love it too. He isn't out to make fans happy or pay for nostalgia. He's not going to overpay just to do it.

Niners shopping Kap. Who the hell would trade for him and wtf are the 49ers doing? They just signed him to huge deal and would have large cap hit.

well, that's what he played last year, and many around me view him the same way.

I am confused. He is 6'3 220 and ran a 4.46. That screams outside WR. He played the slot because a) he was a rookie and b) they had two veterans ahead of him, and Coop was actually coming off a nice year and can block on the edge.

He was a helluva college player in the SEC where he faced double teams a plenty and still produced. He was probably one of the better steals of the draft.

again, that's what he played last year. make an actual point. kelly said last year that he liked him there.

He liked him there because that's all they had open. He was a rookie. Cooper blocks well on the edge giving him a huge advantage over a rookie. Plus he was coming off a great year. At the end of the year Matthews had passed Cooper on the depth chart and was playing a lot.

Just to be clear... I am making points, and you not liking them does NOT disqualify them as points.

I believe they drafted him because Kelly likes a guy like that in the slot. That is just the consensus from people around where I am. Perhaps they move him to the outside now, mostly because they have to, but I still think Kelly will prefer him in the slot.

You hadn't made any actual point when I said that, just said "actually no."
