The Falcons are beyond a joke. We haven't even played the Panthers yet. We've been playing a backup QB just about every week and are incapable of winning.

Way too many fundamental mistakes that are a direct result of lack of coaching. And Quinn doesn't appear willing to accept anything is wrong. Starting to remind me of the previous regime. They are really going to squander a 5-0 start with pretty much all their key weapons intact. You have to work hard in the NFL or any level to do that.

Need the draft pick

To state the obvious, the playoff hopes of the Dallas Cowboys are over. It was rather clear to me that Tony Romo was pressing in this game. And when you press, especially against a defense like the Panthers, mistakes are going to happen. Today was a clear indication of that.

However, I am less concerned about Romo's play today as I am his long term health. He is not a young man anymore. He's not going to recover from his injuries as quickly. Reports are saying he is out for the season.

For the Cowboys, now is the time to ready themselves for the time Tony Romo's career is over. The Cowboys have waited long enough to find his long term replacement. This season should be a wake up call for that. It may sound crazy, but if the Redskins do as I anticipate they will and cut RG3, the I think Dallas should sign him as a backup next season. That, and still draft a QB for the longer term. If they sign Griffin, then perhaps they can wait until the third or fourth round to get a QB in the draft, but one needs to be taken. Again, the Cowboys cannot afford to wait.

I'm still a fan of Tony Romo. I've defended him more than anyone else on this board. But, the end of his career is quickly approaching and the Cowboys need to be ready. They weren't prepared well enough for the end of the Troy Aikman era. They have to get this right. Jerry and Stephen, you better get it right.

I firmly believe RG3 would greatly benefit from playing behind Romo for a year, if he was willing to do that. Could turn his career around if he was humble enough to sit behind Romo for a year and learn. They are very similar QBs in terms of size and Romo's playing style is what RG3 should be trying to emulate. Plus having Dez Bryant to throw to is certainly a plus as well.
