REAL FOOTBALL Thread

So Kapernick says he'll stop kneeling for the national anthem. I'm sure that's all due to him being a free agent. I hope no one signs his ass and he ends up as one of those broke athletes down the road.

I read yesterday or day before yesterday that someone speculated the REAL reason he did that this past season was so the Whiners wouldn't dare cut his arse. Don't know if that's true, but $20M I would definitely consider standing on my head, before games, during games, after games, etc., but that's just me.

Report says the Redskins believe they can win with Colt McCoy and desire to either sign Cousins or move him pretty soon to dodge all this drama.

He doesn't hate America. But I'm glad you hate the Constitution which allows him the Freedom of speech to express solidarity with a plight that a lot of people didn't really know about.

Yep and it's all of a sudden over with because he's a free agent. The guy is a terrible NFL quarterback and a poser off the field. Please keep defending him.

He is a terrible NFL QB. But what he did off the field is none that you know. You call him a poser but unlike many he put money where his mouth is.

So you may call him a poser, but I call you a fool because unlike many he gave a prominent position to a cause and gave a lot of money to causes. Which is a lot more than many others have done.

I'm taking a sabbatical from football for a long time. The Super Bowl really did me in. If it was a neck and neck game from kickoff and we lost I can accept that. But that 28-3 in mid of 3rd quarter garbage, nope. The wound was stabbed too deep.

Falcons had interest in Nick Perry before he resigned with GB, but I was wondering where they would play him? Would he have been a hand down DE here? Seems a lot like Beasley.

Anyhow, I hope we bring in Hankins as his market has been quiet so far.

I doubt he'll be any good for the Browns, but they gain a future draft pick and he does give them a viable starting option at the QB position for 2017. Always nod to have options I guess. How much is he actually still owed?

Edit: looks like the Browns will either look to eat money and trade him for a pick, or will cut him outright.

Supposedly a Garoppolo deal in the works to the Browns. Some chatter about it this morning on Twitter. JG's agent reporting they've heard nothing though.

They are loaded with picks. Can deal some off without crippling the future.

I can't help but think its a case of fools gold though. I'd never want to pay heavily for a backup qb with four games of starting experience from the Pats.

Hankins market has been really quiet. Hoping that's ATL working with him as we have also been really quiet. Hoping we announce Trufant, Ryan extensions, and Hankins coming on board.

Uhhh... do you even remember Matt Cassell??

To be fair, Grappollo is way more athletic than Cassell ever was. There's still risk that his performance is all system related, but at the very least I think the talent is there.

Still wouldn't trade an early 1st rounder for him though.

Good deal for both sides. I think Cooks is good, but not quite elite. But he should thrive in the Pats system with all the WR screens and quick slants they run.

Saints got another 1st rounder and they can afford to lose Cooks considering how their offense keeps churning out playmakers consistently.
