REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Oh, Kaep wasn't clutch on Sunday. Sure thing.....

You haven't even tried to refute anyting I have said this week about Kaep. Its early but Kaep is going to be a monster this season. Just wait till Crab and Mario come back. Then he will have close to the weapons that Ryan has.

Kaepernick beat up on the Packers again. Shocking. Lets see if he can do it again against the Seachickens.

Except that we have whole seasons of Ryan being clutch on 3rd downs. Not just individual games.

For example, last year

I'm just messing around. I like Ryan. Top 10 Qb for sure. Not sure if he can break into the top 5 but he is really close. I just think that Kaep is the most "talented" QB in the league. Doesn't mean he is the best or ever will be the best but his ceiling is higher than Ryan. He just had his first camp where he was working with the #1's all year and he just destroyed a team that was actually rated to have a good pass defense last year and we didn't see the customary dominant performance on the ground from the 49ers.

I know you won't admit it but Kaep was damn impressive. Davis even dropped a 30 yard pass right on his hands. Kaep was a little off as well on some of his throws so while he had a great game it could have been even better.

Packers had a good pass defense last year which I'm sure you know. It will probably be pretty decent again. its not Saints bad at least.

49ers are going to lose on Sunday. I expect it. But, I still believe Kaep will have a solid game.

I am glad I got Vernon Davis on the cheap this year in FF. $10 and I think he's due for a big bounceback season.

When is Crabtree supposed to be back?

Packers have a solid pass defense but they are built to handle a different team than Kaepernick. They're built to handle the teams in their division like the Lions and Bears and teams like the Falcons, Saints, Pats, and Broncos who are more stationary.

Conservatively I think around week 10 but won't be fully integrated until later on. Davis will be a great option. They worked together a lot in the offseason to build that chemistry that is necessary. 49ers also had Davis working with the wide receivers a lot to shore up his route running which at times is lacking. 49ers LOVE the TE they drafted in the second round this year so it will allow Davis who is a great blocker to go out in more routes. Don't expect 2 TD performances every week but he will be a great option until Crab is down.

Oh stop it. Kaep was in the pocket all day. He was incredible on Sunday and showed just how talented he is. If you want to try and stop the run by all means do it. He will destroy you as a pocket passer. Go send 7 guys out in man over coverage and he will rush all over you. Kaep is the ultimate weapon from the QB position. He just needs experience to prove it.

You think Kaepernick plays the pocket the same way as those other guys? That's news to me. When you're handling a running QB you rush the QB to contain him not to get to him. Totally different.

BTW with the rise of the running QB expect to see more DEs going inside to get pressure up the gut. Also expect like you saw in the early 2000s when teams drafted athletic DTs to do that.

There is no defense in football that is designed to stop a QB like Kaep or RG3 when healthy. Thats what makes these guys ceilings so high. Kaep is just ahead of RG3 right now especially in the pocket presence department. I have never seen a QB get so many hits in the pocket. He just has no clue when and where the rush is coming from.

Then you better expect the 49ers to rush the ball down teams throat when their offensive line dominates those smaller defenders. Packers shut down the 49ers running game with their massive DT's (Pickett/Raji/Jolly).

There is a defense to stop it. It's pressure up the gut and DE contain. Unlike a pocket passer who you can rush aroudn you have to hit a runner in the mouth. Guys like Kaepernick and RG3 are used to outdancing the DL and not taking hits in the mouth.

Bet the Lions would make it hell of the Niners.

It's called situational playcalling. you move guys around as needed. call tricky playcalling, so on so forth. Teams will adapt, they always do.

You are neglecting to acknowledge the fact that Kaepernick is a pocket passer that can run.

Does that change anything that I said? Kaepernick is a running QB who can throw in the pocket because he's not a midget like Vick.

Of course it changes things because if you rush up the middle on a guy with pocket presence then he will just shift to the side and move ahead of the pressure and just create large windows to throw or run. All the kid needs is time because he has shown that he can do everything on a football field. I will be interested to see what Seattle does with him. Their CB's match up well with Boldin.

Oh thethe, how naive.

No because you think that Kaepernick will think that fast to something he's never had to face before. Kaepernick is untested.

Yes he is untested but unless you haven't been watching he has showed an advanced feel of passing from the pocket. He was instantly typecasted as a running QB. That is not him.
