REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Yeah **** the Saints. I didn't see the whole game but almost every single time I looked, Payton was bitching about something. **** the Saints.

If you had watched the whole game you'd know why he was bitching about something. You'd have thought it was a Cowboys-Packers game or maybe a Steelers-Bungles game if you had.

At the end of the first half, Julio Jones got absolutely mugged on the interception and they called nothing. They were all over our receivers all night. On the flipside, I could see where the interception at the end of the game could potentially have been called interference.

It was within 5 yards of the line if scrimmage so all that hand fighting is legal.

That said, I don't think Atlanta wins at New Orleans so we will have to beat Carolina and Tampa to have a shot at the playoffs.

If we beat Carolina and Tampa we'll almost certainly be in the playoffs. Carolina would have to win out to even force some sort of tiebreaker, which I'm sure Atlanta owns because we tanked vs. the AFC.

If we win out we win the division. Wouldn't that be grand?

Anyway, I think Seattle has a nice cushy path to the playoffs, their remaining schedule even sucks.

There was plenty of contact outside of 5 yards. It's no excuse mind you. It's the way the game is played now thanks to Seattle and Atlanta is guilty as well.

Also on that play it wasn't a 5 yard route, Julio got about 7 or so and contact was made while the ball was in the air. Which isn't permissable within 5 yards of the line.

I actually didn't mind the contact on the INT at the end of the game, sure though there was contact but I felt like both players were going for the ball. The nit picky crap the refs on many other plays was very telling if a person isn't just blindly happy their team was getting the benefit of the calls, which is getting more and more obvious. How many 1st downs did Atlanta get because of penalties during that last scoring drive? I'd really love to see people who don't have a dog in any particular fight, as it were, to objectively research how things are going. The NFL is quickly becoming the NBA and the WWE, I don't know if it's that POS Goddell, or maybe the refs union or both, maybe trying to getting certain teams to win to boost ratings, or maybe just trying to shave a few points now and then. I'm sure Vegas wouldn't mind, right? By the way, I don't love or hate either the Saints or the Falcons, but I do care about my favorite sport, the NFL, which is turning into a travesty right before our eyes and so many people don't even seem to notice.

Hate to break this to you Hawk, NFL has been rigged for ages. Falcons have been on the other side for so long we just assume it's still cutting us. You're just now starting to experience life on the **** side of the stick. Dallas has mostly stayed above the fray in the relatively well protected area. Now you're down here with us and teams like Philly where the NFL doesn't care about you. So you get shafted a lot more. I'm shocked calls went our way because New Orleans has been fortunate this year.

Jimmmy G looks to be pretty good. I would have liked the #2 pick to trade down but I can't be upset with the 49ers future if Jimmy is going to play this well.
