But thats the point. Smart teams just don't take RB's that high. Maybe if you like a guy a lot you take him at the end of the first round but anyting top 20 is just a terrible decision for your franchise.

Broncos seem to be doing OK.

The most important thing is finding the right QB and coach, then you build from there. Whether it's through the running game, or the defense, or wherever, great teams get the BPA. If that BPA is a RB they take a RB,.

Broncos are doing ok because they have the best QB of all time. What a foolish example sir.

And how many of those guys, in hindsight, should have been taken in the 1st? Rchardson, Wilson, Best, Brown, Moreno, Wells, Mathews should not have. And besides Richardson, they aren't going very high. I would take Morris over anyone there except Martin, and McCoy over anyone there.

You could play that game with QBs too

QBs taken in the last 5 years in the first round

2013 - Manuel
2012 Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Weeden
2011 - Scam, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder
2010 - Bradford, Tebow
2009 - Stafford, Sanchize, Freeman

Who of those should have been taken in the first? Weeden, Gabbert, Ponder, Tebow, Sanchize, and Freeman shouldn't have!!!

And also WTF that Richardson and Moreno shouldn't have gone that high, do you know nothing about scouting? Richardson was hailed as the next Peterson. Moreno was maybe a smidge of a stretch but no way he would have fell out of the first.

And for every McCoy or Morris, there are plenty more Glen Coffees or Mike Goodsons, or Montario Hardestys.

The whole "don't draft a player high cause other successful players are found lower" can be applied to literally every position in the NFL. QB, WR (Wes Welker or Jordy Nelson anyone?), OT, DE.

Fact is that NFL prospects bust sometimes, and other times you have surprise players. It happens every year at every position. You don't look back at the 2010 draft, see that Brandon Graham was a total bust and swear off drafting DEs high. Or see nearly Franchise ruinign busts like Ryan Leaf and declare never to take a QB number 1. You just don't do it. You draft the best possible player.

The "going away" from drafting RBs has to do with 2 things. First that their careers are shorter and your goal for a first round player is to take a franchise player. Second is that the NFL as a league has been moving away from having impact runners. So they've not been as in demand on the team level so they're not as in demand on the draft board. Saying that teams are moving away from RBs because they're dumb to pick in the first would be like saying they're moving away from taking nose tackles after switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3.

Made the playoffs 3 years ago with Tim Freaking Tebow as their QB. Peyton is obviously the biggest part of their success but anyone with 2 eyes knew there was talent on that team and they just needed a competent QB. Same basic scenario the Chiefs were in. You could see the defensive talent, and the WR threats, and the running talent, they just needed someone to not screw them at the QB position.

There goes zito once again with the strawman and obnoxious exclamation points. Again, I never said anything about QBs. However, they are far more important than RBs and more worth the risk. I remember thinking Richardson was a huge reach. He doesn't have the size speed or strength that Peterson does. You just keep proving my point.

T-Rich was overhyped like all Bama running backs. Indy made it even worse by actually seeing him play in the NFL and still giving up a first round pick.

To be fair what he is doing is otherworldly.

Never said it wasn't but there's plenty of other QBs that could lead this team to a SB. What Brady is doing in NE this year is more impressive to me than what Peyton is doing.

Would also add what Rivers has done with almost no receivers in San Diego to that as well. While he has Gates he has nothing at the receiver position.

Zito is back on Rivers penis!

Those receivers look pretty good for SD. Guys were pretty open yesterday. Haven't realliy watched them otherwise this year.

Not really, not like Brady has nothing around him.

Best OL in football, elite defense, pretty good run game, more than enough weapons.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHA

Thompkins, Edleman and 2 no name TE's .....his RB's have been hurt all year...what are you talking about? Other than being a defensive homer, of course.

Yeah, Brady has nothing. That organization should be embarassed what they are doing to their HOF QB.

Wilson is not the starting RB. Anyone who follows football knows that.

Are you ****ing kidding me???

They cut Scott the week before Wilson got hurt...Scott was playing on passing downs. Newly acquired Jacobs was goal line and short yardage.

The week Wilson was hurt he was still the starter...and actually got a carry from the 5 for his first TD. He was hurt while handling a carry from around his own 1 yard line...pretty sure they trusted him to touch the ball at his own goal line.

When he returns it will probably be pretty even split between Brown and Wilson...leaving Jacobs to disappear somewhere....maybe back to SF

The talk in NY was pretty clear. Wilson was not the starter moving forward. Guy lacks vision and is afraid to block blitzers.
