I have to imagine this conversation was about how bad they wish they were on the same team right now.

That's because they have their OL is amazing. When Kaepernick isn't cheap he'llhave worse OL

49ers will allocate their money appropriately. Crabtree is not going to be here long term unless he takes a discount. 49ers will take their chances with a great offensive line and non-elite receivers as long as Kaep is there with a competant running game. Davis is already locked up and they are great at using draft picks as currency. I'm sure if Kaep ends up having a 15 year career that he will have times when the teams oline isn't great but unless a guy or two get career ending injuries it will be strong for MANY years to come. The line is only getting better and a lot of people believe Kilgore will be a better center than Goodwin next year. Aside from Iupati they are all locked up and now that it looks like Aldon either won't be as expensive or as needed with the emergence of Lemeonier so that can assure Iupati is staying as well.

Niners only have 5 players with 5 seasons of control or more. Ahmad Brooks, Anthony Davis, Andy Lee, Staley, and Bowman.

Also Kilgore is a FA same season as Iupati.

What will Kilgore demand as a career backup. They will be able to lock him up if they like him easily just like they did with Alex Boone before everyone realized he was one of the best guards in football. 49ers continue to fill needs via the draft and as long as you are successful at that then you will have sustained success. It first starts with the elite QB and Kaep still has a long ways to go but I still believe he will be there. He has had some rough patches this year but we haven't seen the best from him yet this year. Don't you think there might have been a reason it took them so long to start running the read option again?

I'd take Ryan after Luck and Rodgers.

Could throw Stafford in there as well.

Cam is up there too, hes been great as of late.

Stafford is good, but he has a Godly WR to throw it to. How many times has he thrown it into triple coverage and Megatron come down with it.

Having Megatron obviously helps. But did you see the throws he made on the final drive to Duram and Calvin... Just perfect throws down the field in tight coverage. Stafford is as talented as they come, and is only 25 years old. He's really limited his mistakes this year as well - only 6 picks, 3 of which were WR tipped.

Stafford is not that good. He's like Tony Romo. Give him weapons and he'll succeed. But he makes too many dumb mistakes.

I still can't quite figure out all the Stafford hate. It's late so I'm going to keep this very basic - but just for a quick glance/comparison:

Matt Ryan:
AGE 23 Season: 87.7 QB Rating
AGE 24 Season: 80.9 QB Rating
AGE 25 Season: 91.0 QB Rating

Matt Stafford:
AGE 23 Season: 97.2 QB Rating
AGE 24 Season: 79.8 QB Rating
AGE 25 Season: 95.3 QB Rating (this season)

You are really high on Ryan and really low on Stafford - yet Stafford has had a better start to his career. Stafford is a full 3 years younger than Ryan. And Ryan has really gone into elite status the last two years (age 27, 28), which Stafford is still a couple years away from.
