REAL FOOTBALL Thread

You have an amazing talent to be able to watch every Falcons game and every Lions game. I'm guessing you just see the highlights of his amazing catches, and not all the needle threaded passes that are thrown where only he can catch them.

But if you're unwilling to take my word for it - a guy who has seen every Lions game since Stafford was drafted, so be it. But I can honestly say the progression of Stafford has been very good, and this year he has been better than ever. He just doesn't make the same mistakes as he used to, and he will only get better as he keeps getting more polished

It's called the internet. And I'm not watchign every game all the time. I watch many. My point with Megatron in thethe's post was thethe saying Megatron is a deep threat only which isnt' the case at all.

Stafford is a solid QB, but he's not top 5.

Look, Ive watched Stafford every play since he took his first snaps at UGA. He is what he is. He has a huge arm. It isn't a knock, but he hovers at a 60% completion rate. Which is about 1% below average for the NFL last I checked.

Without Calvin, that completion percentage drops a few points. He has a shoe in HOF WR (Who could retire tomorrow and be a first ballot guy) that will likely never be rivaled. Calvin catches everything, and in triple coverage. This can't be disputed. Stafford gets away with it because he has Calvin. Period. It isn't a knock. He would be very solid with other weapons, but nothing near the top 5.

A lot of what you say is right. But I'm telling you he is getting better and better.

This year his completion % is 62.4%, which is 13th in the league. His Y/A is 7.7 which is 9th in the league. His INT % is 1.8%, which I'm not sure where that ranks but it is very strong.

Also, Calvin Johnson's dropped pass % is 5%, so it's not like he catches everything - in fact, I'd say he drops many that he shouldn't. But of course, he makes up for it by catching many that he shouldn't.

When did I say that is all he is?

Well when balls are being thrown 100mph at you all over the place, you will drop a few. Besides, jammed fingers, wrists, etc... happen when you get thrown at 20 times a game.
He is having a much better year than last year, and is progressing nicely. But to discount the Megatron factor is just ignoring the obvious. It also has helped his completion % to have some good backs to rely on this year. I have Bush in a PPR and he has been lock tight! I could even argue he needs more catches in that offense.

Stafford is a nice Qb to have. He isn't "by himself" a superstar.

Not two weeks ago, you said don't trade for Gordon while I was in favor. Just wondering why. I wouldn't replace Crab, but Boldin, yeah.

I was still unsure of the strength of this team becuase Kaeps performance left something to be desired. However, the team is so strong that its time to go for it. We have so many draft picks and in 1 1/2 years when Gordon walks in FA they will still get a third rounder.

BTW, you were right!

I don't think we're too far off on our opinions.

I see Stafford's raw ability and age and have very high expectations

If he straightens up, I wouldn't let him get away. Kid is that good, and with a decent QB, he would be putting up tremendous numbers. He is also just a kid.

They will have too much money locked up on the offensive line and front seven to invest so much money into a wide receiver. They will just recycle runninng backs and hope to get lucky in the draft at CB and WR. But, who knows...maybe they will be able to finagle the cap.

You mean like the game where Calvin didn't play, and he threw 0 picks?

Truth be told, he throws most of his picks because of Calvin bc he is trying to force the ball to him.

By the way, Calvin had 14 catches on 16 targets yesterday, including a dropped pass. OMG STAFFORD SO INACCURATE!

The game where Stafford threw for 6.6 yards per attempt and had a QBR of 29?

LOL. Give RG3 CJ to close his eyes and throw the ball up for grabs too and see what happens. Stafford better hope Megatron never leaves.

RG3 needs to really work on a bunch of stuff. I'm not sure he would be that much better with Calvin. He is having a lot of issues reading coverages and pressures.

He wqould be better with Megatron, but with that you'd have to take Al Morris from him and I don't know if that's enough of a swing.

I thought RG3 had the best offense ever this year?

Do you still wanna revert back to your "Skins are better than Lions" comment?

Because the Skins are terrible. And RG3 is terrible

Still better than 3 of RG3's games....

RG3 QBR by game:

15.7
43
29.8
38.1
37.2
91.8
7.5

7.5

Oh, and that is without losing your top two receivers before the game.

So let's see, Stafford has a QBR of 66.2...which is only 76% better than RG3 for the year. Pretty close...
