The salary cap needs to be adjusted in a way that would allow more trades.

Year 2014
Player 1 makes 10 million a season.
Team A trades P1 to Team B ( at any point after the "League Year" begins)
Team A assumes the cap hit as if P1 played the entire season for them.
Team B assumes no cap responsibility for that season

Year 2015
Team A has no Cap responsibility for P1 anymore (no dead money blah blah etc)
Team B assumes the contract hit as if the player was never traded.

Am I making sense?

His season compared to Alex Smith's is almost identical.
