REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Ok ok. So yeah, we'll look at last game. 5.89 ypa! what? Thats two in a row. Oh wait, 6.62 before that.....sheez.

Hey, those are improvements over the 4.78 vs. Seattle and the 4.93 vs. Arizona. My god does he ever look past the LOS?

Lmao did you seriously bring up Ryan's performances while playing the cards and seahawks, 2 of the best defenses in the NFL with sick lines. Ryan has a 6.9 y/a despite faci g the toughest pass defenses in the NFL. With a terrible ol.

In a dome with no wind vs 8 degree weather on a frozen ball.

Yeah, not close.

Not in Denver with the game on the line vs in Denver in a non-pressure kick. I agree it's not close, it's harder to kick under pressure than it is to not, and it's much harder to get 61 in a dome than 64 in Denver.

You have an amazing talent to be able to watch every Falcons game and every Lions game. I'm guessing you just see the highlights of his amazing catches, and not all the needle threaded passes that are thrown where only he can catch them.

But if you're unwilling to take my word for it - a guy who has seen every Lions game since Stafford was drafted, so be it. But I can honestly say the progression of Stafford has been very good, and this year he has been better than ever. He just doesn't make the same mistakes as he used to, and he will only get better as he keeps getting more polished

I figured it would be a good time to do a lil bumpin'...

Sigh… things have changed that's for sure.

At least I can be proud that he didn't throw his teammates under the bus like another QB I knew

True.

I don't think people living in glass houses in Skinz country should be throwing stones considering they are widely regarded as one of the biggest dumpster fires in football. Right after Houston and don't even get their first round pick to help right the ship.

**I retract the above statement. They are the worst dumpster fire in football. Houston has some talent.

A few thoughts on the Lions game/season.

1. We're still better than the Redskins... but who isn't?

2. Jim Schwartz should be so thankful that Jason Garret is still employed. The cowboys coaching staff is the only one that keeps ours from being the worst in league. 3rd and 1, two good running backs, and we go empty backfield for an INT. 3RD and 2, two good running backs, and we go shotgun crossing routes for an INT. RUN THE DAMN BALL

3. Calvin Johnson is the best receiver in the league. But man, he can be frustrating sometimes. He probably cost us the game last night, with three EASY dropped passes. You just have to catch every single one of those passes, especially the two point conversion. Who would have thought that Matt Elam called him out, and Calvin is the one who comes away embarrassed? 10 on-target drops for Calvin this year.

4. Stafford has taken so many steps back in the last 5 games that I'm not sure what to think. He was playinhg really good football up until the Pittsburgh game, and now, I cringe everytime he steps back. The sidearm bull **** looks cool, but if I were his coach, I would bench him every time he does it if he isn't under pressure. I wish there were some stats to quantify it, but he misses receivers all the time because he throws from his waist. He leads the league in batted passes because he throws it from his waist. He throws interceptions because he throws it from his waist.

5. The Lions (in my biased opinion) are the most talented team in the NFC. The NFC North was handed to us on a silver platter. And we throw it away. We are 6-3, with games against Pittsburgh, Tampa, and a Matt Flynn-led GB team coming up, and now 5 games later we are 7-7. What a joke. Schwartz has to go. Linihan has to go. Enough is enough. We're wasting Calvin's prime years on this garbage. We finally have a capable defense. We finally have a capable running game. We finally have a capable O-Line. And we **** the bed.

6. I know this will sound like whining. But I'm pretty sure Goodel and the officials have it out for Detroit. I know for a fact Goodell hates us. And then I see some of the calls that are called against us or not called for us in the last few games and it makes you wonder. The non PI call in the endzone likely cost us the game. We kicked a FG but would have had 1st and goal from the 1. As usual, there will be no penalty for the refs for missing that obvious call, but it may well cost our coaching staff their job (which would be the only good thing that comes from it).

7. I have Justin Tucker on my fantasy team. So I got that going for me.

8. I have Stafford and Calvin on my fantasy team. So I don't have that going for me (at least for the last two weeks).

Bear Down! Back in first place and in control of their own destiny! Thank you Detroit!

I'm a Packer guy and thanks to the Lions, it looks like Week 17 might actually mean something if both our teams take care of business this coming weekend. Looks like the winner of the NFC North will be winner of the tallest pygmy contest.

My opinion is Stafford is a great fantasy QB but a horrible real life QB. He puts up great stats and throws a lot of TD's but his INT's will just kill you.

I like Stafford. I just don't think the mental is there yet. I could see him having a Favre type of career where the mental and physical align by the time he is in his late 20s.

A FB is more important than a top 15 WR when healthy?

Probably not, but the role Miller plays for the 49ers is extremely important. He has sure hands and is the third leading receiver on the team. He's one of the best blocking fullbacks in the game. For a team that relies on the run as much as we do, yes this injury is very bad.

Yeah, not close.

David Akers has the most impressive kick anyway. Two years ago in Lambeau he tied the old record of 63. Prater kicking in Denver means nothing and it's a joke of a record.

Game wasnt on the line but that was a huge kick at the time.

And while it is easier to kick in Denver, it was ****ing freezing that game, despite the "altitude"

If it was a warm day with no wind, yes.

But on a frozen ball, it was impressive.

Lol. Your team is irrelevant. Theyve never won a thing and no one outside of Atlanta even give a **** about the
