There are some cuttable players but they do have their problems with the cap this offseason.

Lance Moore, Bunkley, Harper are all possible cuts which would save around 17-18 on top of Smith which is 11-12.

According to overthecap.com bunkley, Harper and moore save about 6M. of course they could be wrong if they got bonus money early, but usually teams don't do that.

Acccording to them they have 41 players totally 136.9M if the cap is 128 or so that means to get under the cap and sign picks they'd have to cut Smith. Then they have to fill up all those roster spots Cutting someone that saves them a million creates a problem cause they have to pay someone to take their place.

I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work, but talk about a bad situation. The following year they're still in bad cap situation with 29 players making 120M. Though they have more guys they can cut to save some decent money then. ONly Brees is a big hit. May make sense for the Saints to try next year by tagging Graham and making all the necessary cuts and if it fails cut most of the team and start all over again.

Im not sure how much they save by cutting them but those are some cap casualties that could be let go.

But they do have some cap problems, for sure.

I just cant see them let Graham hit the market.
 
Saints can also restructure some contracts to save cap space as well. Colston/Grubbs/Evans will probably all restructure to save a few million in 2014. All 3 will probably be cut after the 2015 season. 2016 is when salary cap hell really begins for the Saints. Maybe Brees will do what Brady did and sign a cheap 3 year extension to bring his cap number down to a manageable level.

Not out of the question. Colston Grubbs and Evans are all owed a lot of money and the savings could very well be minimal and it's just pouring some water on a Tire Fire. Colston just signed a contract and is owed about 8M in guaranteed money, he also has a workout bonus as well tied into his deal. Grubbs also just signed. and is owed 9M in guaranteed money.
 
Only team worse off than NOLA is Dallas. They have less players they can cut to save money and one of the players that they basically have to cut or restructure like crazy is Demarcus Ware. Cutting other likely cuts like Miles Austin will only save them about a half million at most (saves about a million but you have to replace that guy with someone else)

Maybe they could work on something with Romo to lower his cap hit (21.7M) but gives him more guaranteed money. Cowboys can't cut Romo to save money until 2015. So maybe he does it. He's owed a healthy chunk of guaranteed money (close to 20M) maybe if you up it to 40 and spread it out more it will work.
 
Cutler to sign 7 year deal. I think that was the right move. I'm a fan of Cutler and think the Bears could be in for some good things next year.
 
Can they win it all with Cutler? Im skeptical when the backup comes in and totally outperforms Cutler with the same team.

As long as the money isn't too crazy, maybe he can be acceptable with having Forte/Jeffery/Marshall, but his not a top tier QB. He may not even be in the 2nd tier.

Could do worse I'm sure but I'd rather keep Schiano than hire someone like SMith who's a solid but not great coach. Schiano was finally getting things done when he got rid of the cancer that was Josh Freeman. But then again the Glazers aren't known for their sound football moves.
 
Also bad move by the Bears. Cutler is an average to below average QB. He's missed at least a game each of the last 4 seasons. He's taken a lot of hits so he's not gonna age too well. He did just post one of his best statistical seasons, but as gilesfan pointed out, his backup came in an played better. The McCown lead Bears had the playoffs within grasp. Cutler came back week 16 and lost to the Eagles miserably then lost to the Packers at home. Sometimes you have to cut bait with your players and that should ahve been Cutler. I would have let him leave and seen what you could do with a smarter QB.
 
The Eagle game was not his fault. Their defense was absolutely awful and he had to chance to win that game. When you have the downfield weapons that the bears do I want a big arm QB.

I thought he should haev went to Detroit. That team much more than the Bucs needed a disciplined head coach.
 
I heard Cutler got more than Stafford. Yikes on both those deals.

Lovie is an excellent coach. He went 81-63 with the Bears even despite not having any top QBs.

Yeah, but I don't think Schiano fits into that style of play. He's more into ground and pound. My guess is Schiano goes back to school, Penn State was courting him before he got fired, and that seems like the best fit.

Detroit does need a stern coach but I'd think more along a Reid/Fisher line than a Schiano/Cowher line. I think a quite strong leader is needed after a hothead like Schwarz.

The defense sucked, but Cutler scored 11 points on the Eagles. He went 20/35 like 220 yards with 1 TD a pick against one of the worse pass defenses in the NFL. Eagles probably win that game anyway (Foles was throwing to open men all day) but if the Bears weren't down 21-0 after the first game would be different is my guess.

Bears had one of if not the best defenses in the NFL under him as well.

Lovie will have the Bucs D clicking but the offense will still suck?
