REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Lots of injuries to big names this weekend.

Saquon was my first pick.......

I still have James Connor and Melvin Gordon, and just picked up James Robinson last week. Looks like he could be a stud this year.

QB situation is awful though. I let it auto-draft and ended up Daniel Jones as my QB1 with no back-up. Snatched up Bridgewater, but I think I'll let swap him for Minshew this week. While they're divisional games, Minshew has looked very good vs 2 very good defenses to start the year and schedule is pretty favorable.

Quinn has got to gone doesn't he? Hopefully the Falcons don't start winning games and end up in that 6-8 win range again that nets them a mid round pick. Get that 1st overall pick. Get rid of Matty Ice for draft picks, bring in the local legend Trevor Lawrence, beef up the DL/LB core. Brees and Brady will be out of there within 2 years. Now is the time to rebuild and be ready for that time.

It's past noon on the east coast and Quinn still hasn't been fired. I'm thinking it's not going to happen. My thinking is that Blank had the chance to fire Quinn at the end of last season and decided to give him one more season to right the ship. I'm thinking that Blank's position is that he already made the decision to give Quinn this season and wont consider firing him until the season is lost. He's not going to make a move in the heat of the moment that contradicts the measured, reasoned decision he made last year.

Of course I don't think this philosophy considers utter coaching failures like the last two weeks.

This is a plan i could get behind and I was thinking the same this am drinking my coffee..

I was thinking what an issue Matt Ryans contract is going to be for any new coach going forward. I'd be all over this plan of attack.

Unfortunately the Falcons wont be winless this year or even close to winless. They'll probably end up scratching out the 6 or 7 wins Carp hopes they wont and so end up picking outside the top 10. Just good enough to lose out in the draft, just bad enough for the season to be a failure. That's the Falcons specialty.

Should have definitely tanked for the OSU DE last year. No doubt. That little "run" they went on cost us what.... 8 spots minimum.

Just realized how nasty that Washington front 7 is Allen, Young, Sweat, and Payne. Wow. That is some top tier talent. If they had an offense, they could be a dangerous team.

A lot of dead money left on the contract, but he's most definitely still a QB1. Colts and Broncos make some sense here as a trade partner, since they are built to win now. So do the Pats depending on what they do with Scam. I doubt the Falcons have the balls to do it, but that would be my play. Tank for Trevor, rebuild the defense. Brees and Brady gone by 2022, Falcons have the clear path forward for division champs annually.

And it's not like the Falcons don't have talent. The coaching has been absolutely abysmal. How long can Quinn last?

With the defense falling out, the only reason to keep him is monetary. There must be a release clause in the contract.

I fully expect him and Dimitroff to be out after this year. Though the Falcons are pretty legendary at hanging onto execs longer than they should.

Time to blow up the Falcons.

Trade Matt and Julio

Fire the whole coaching staff

Fire Dimitrioff

That regime has spent the last 4 years trying to catch lightning in a bottle again (2016). All they have done the last few years is throw bad money at average players and it’s destroyed the cap situation.

There’s enough talent that a quick rebuild is possible if they hit on a QB/coach combo.

I think they owe them too much money at this point. Trading them would be huge cap hits with most teams already over the cap going into next season because of coronavirus. Probably need to keep them through 2021 then they should have manageable cap hits
