REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Upset of the season. IN a meaningless game, the Falcons will squeak out a victory against the chiefs. Why? Because this is the dumb **** the Falcons do every year to pick outside of the top 10.

Currently tied for 4th worst record in the league and playing 2 playoff teams, they'll win both and be picking around 13th.

But I will posit something, the Falcons are one of the best bad teams in the NFL. They're basically as good as Cleveland.

Locked up that 4 spot I hope. Need DL help imo or a dynamo WR

Falcons need trench help period. OL and DL should be the main focus at the top of the draft, though they should take the BPA. I would also listen to trading down. Get more picks. Falcons need to improve almost everywhere. I'm a big fan of if you're going to rebuild, start with rebuilding your trenches.

They just need to draft good players regardless of position. They have a LT drafted in the top 10. 2 other first round OLinemen they drafted and Mack who was a first round drafted Center for another team. They have drafted plenty of defensive players but outside of Grady Jarrett havent amounted to much. So they need to go BPA. I feel like they have been drafting for need the last few years and it wasnt exactly working.

I mean the reality is at 4 unless the clear number 1 in the draft is there, BPA and OL or DL should be pretty danged close. Only exception I would say is QB. I don't really want a QB right now. I really want Sewell. I'd be fine with Parsons, Chase, etc.

Though, the mock I like is the Falcons trading back with the Niners then taking Pitts.Get tons of picks, and get one of the better talents in the draft

Falcons are in a tough spot picking 4th. If Fields is on the board (Lawrence wont be) then I think you have to go with him. Fields is perhaps the most gifted player in the draft but he could probably use some development. Having him sit a year and apprentice to Ryan would be ideal. However, there's a good chance Fields is off the board second.

If the franchise QB to replace Ryan isn't on the board at 4, I think you trade back. Unless there's someone you're 100% sold on will be an absolute monster on the DL.

Fields is another overrated OSU qb. Someone’s gonna regret those one/two read guys and it’s gonna cost them a job

But TE ain’t gonna flip this roster. The DE from Miami would be a good pick id think

No it won't. But a TE and a ton of other picks (I'm thinking 2 and 3 this year and next year's 1) would go a long way.

And I'm high on Pitts. I'll admit it. I watch him and see a Gronk/Hernandez/Graham level of talent. And that guy while it won't last long, having a 1000+ yard TE is a mismatch hell for defenses.

Go watch some of Fields' throws against Clemson (who has a very good defense). Dude has insane talent. He'd also be incredibly marketable so that would definitely come into consideration.

How many OSU qbs are in the League?

The system is VERY friendly to them.

It takes a while for TEs to catch on in the NFL. Not sure I’d go TE at all.

There’s not a great fit at the top end of the draft though. Trading back is likely the best option

Yeah, but Elite level Tight Ends have excess value. It is a huge gamble, but a gamble none-the-less

I would hope for either a trade down or QBs go 1-3 and we get Sewell. Those are the 2 ideal scenarios. Falcons have too many holes. ANd this QB class is pretty stacked, like you could get Trask or Newman in the second round most likely.

I dont know much about Pitts but TE are not worth it in the first round unless they can block. Otherwise you are just drafting a slot receiver in the first round. I do feel like Falcons have been missing something since they lost Tony Gonzalez.

Adam Schefter confirms this is Brees's last season. Every game now could be his last. It's going to be an absolute shame if he doesnt get a full crowd for his last game. I seriously might cry when it's over. Imo he is the goat. The Saints were a Browns level dumpster fire before him.

Saints won the division the last 2 years without a perfectly healthy Brees.

Brees is great. But let's not pretend he's Peyton Manning. He was blessed with a great HC and GM. 2 of the best in the game.

Your number 1 in each is Belichick. Then Loomis and Payton are right there. You can argue a few here or there (I like Veach a lot, and Reid is an amazing coach) but it's arguing. If it wasn't for BB they'd be in the discussion as number 1 of each spot.

You don't draft an OSU QB based on their stats. However, you don't discount QB talent just because it comes from OSU either.

Fields is raw there's no doubt. He's not asked to make a ton of reads in that offense and would probably need at least a year serving as the backup to start to get up to speed in the NFL. However, his physical set of tools is unmatched. He's Cam Newton with a better mental makeup.

I wouldn't like to bet on that myself. We've been burned hard with the physically gifted QB once before. Our best years as a franchise happened with a boring pocket passer who just put up 4000 yard seasons one after another (infact his current streak is 10)
