Is Revis really considered no good any more?

I really don't know. If so, it's crazy how quickly CBs can fall off. They can have a great few seasons, but just fall flat.

Makes signing or trading for guys in the secondary very dicey.

Just in case you somehow thought Darrelle Revis had a down year, his +18.2 @PFF grade in 2013 led all CBs.

Skins agree with Andre Roberts. Could be solid 3rd choice behind Garcon and Jordan Reed.

Thats a great move for the Skins. They need to put some weapons around RG3 just like any team does with their franchise QB.

Revis was still great last year. I wonder if the Jets saw the writing on the wall with Revis and that is why they cut Cromartie. Ryan still loves Revis. You put Revis on that defense with that monster front 4 and you are going to sack the QB ALOT!

You can't have Revis in a cover 2 system. You are just wasting him. Its a shame they won't get any value for him though.

How's it wasting? He graded out as the BEST CB in the game last year....if he's on the field, it's not a waste. Could he be used better? Of course....but it's not a waste.

I think paying him that much to be a zone CB is not allocating your cap effectively. They should just alter the cover 2 scheme to fit him as opposed to cutting him but that is not easy to do.

They have 30 mil in cap space WITH him.....they got their main guy, Johnson, and still have 20+ to spend.....I fail to see how cutting the best player at his position, in his prime, is anything other than a giant ****ing mistake.

Cutting Revis makes zero sense to me. They have the room and he played well, what is the issue?

Maybe they just don't believe he can play in zone schemes? I don't know but I think Lovie Smith knows a thing or two about defense.

Revis is a man corner. Man corners and zone corners have different skills. A good scheme could pick apart Revis. Bucs are shifting to a different scheme next year. Bucs played Revis primarily in Man last year. Lovie/Frazier's system is a zone system that benefits say Charles Tillman more.

And I would have give him 5/43. Johnson is maybe the most underrated DE in the NFL. And he was the best available DE on the market. Bennett resigning with Seattle and hardy and Orakpo being tagged thinned the market. If you want a quality DE you have to pay about 8M.

That said if I was the Bucs I wouldn't have cut Revis, simply because someone would have traded for him. And the Bucs aren't winning anything in 2014 no need to splurge on a FA DE if it means getting nothing for Revis.
