REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I'm sure we overpaid but remember we don't have a 1st round pick so we needed him more than other teams did. Bruce Allen is very creative with the cap from what I've heard and read so I'm sure he was able to make this work without too much of a problem.

3 years 24 million with 16 guaranteed. Unbelievably great signing for the skins. They identified a big need in getting their franchise QB a weapon and got him. Rg3 is in line for a tremendous bounce back season. I expect the skins to win 10+ games next year.

Yeah because Washibgton doesn't have a history of throwing large amounts of money at free agents?

Anyway this is a great deal for the Redskins. Although Washington is where receivers go to die. Wasn't there a season not too long ago where a wide receiver didn't catch a TD pass until like week 16 or something?

You know different GMs act differently, correct? Or does every Washington GM act like Vinny Cerrato did?

Did Pierre Garcon die? I thinkg Moss had a few good seasons in Washington

Which WR are you referring to?

Cerrato wasn't a GM, he was a figure head for Snyder.

People have to accept we have a real GM in place now. It's very, very obvious.

How is the SKins offensive line looking? That offense is going to be sick next year.

One of best LT in game. Above average starting RT.

The interior is a question mark. They like the guy from Cleve, but he's had bad grades. They went to the strategy of singing a bunch of guys and hoping a couple stand out. Probably use a 2 or 3 on an interior lineman, I would think.

What was different with the line this year as opposed to 2012 when the running game was unstoppable? Obviously a huge factor was RG3 not being that running threat but there had to be more to it right?

Mainly RG3 not being healthy, but Chester and Montgomery fell to **** in a year. A mobile QB can really help the O-line.

From what I've read Gruden thinks the offensive line is better at run blocking than pass blocking. So Griffin is going to need to get rid of the ball quicker than he has in the past.

Running QBs don't help OLs. They help in the run because they keep defenses honest. But blocking behind a running QB in the pass is way harder than blocking for a pocket QB.

So, you don't believe forcing defense to stay in their rush lanes on passing downs and forcing the front 7 to respect play action pass/bootlegs/ect doesn't help the OL? Or forcing teams to use a spy that could potentially be used as a pass rusher?

HMMMM OK Dude.

Yeah, people don't understand that offensive lines can be good at one and not the other. Same thing with the 49ers. They are great run blockers (aside from the end of the season last year) but average pass blockers.

Yeah, I don't get that at all. Last year it didn't show it because teams caught on real fast that RG3 wasn't himself but the pressure schemes and coverage schemes are much more limited against mobile QB's. Zito doesn't understand that because Ryan is a statue. A statue that got abused last year.

Listen to what actual OL have said. The problem with blocking for a running QB is your back is to them, and the defense can see them, so suppose RG3 drops back and takes off to the right, his right tackle doesn't know he's doing the left defensive end now has an advantage. A more stationary QB, you know where they are.
