Report: Rockies GM O'Dowd rumored for Braves posiiton

Here is some more info - http://www.cbn.com/entertainment/sports/colson_rockies.aspx?option=print

"The USA Today article was the first time the team had publicly discussed their attempt to build a Christian-influenced franchise."

"Once players join the Rockies they put them in an environment that reinforces those values. "Quotes from Scripture are posted in the weight room. Chapel service is packed on Sundays. Prayer and fellowship groups each Tuesday are well-attended. It's not unusual for the front office executives to pray together."

"They have made the Rockies one of the few major league franchises organized on specifically Christian principles."

Sure. They may have had some non-Christian players, but they created a Christian clubhouse with Christian ideals regarding morality and actively searched for personnel who fit that approach.

Here is another - http://www.alternet.org/story/66067/the_colorado_rockies:_god's_baseball_team

"Last year the Rockies went public with the news that the organization was looking for players with "character." And according to team management, "character" means players who have chosen Jesus as their personal Lord and manager. "We're nervous, to be honest with you," Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd said at the time. "It's the first time we ever talked about these issues publicly. The last thing we want to do is offend anyone because of our beliefs."

Rockies chairman and CEO Charlie Monfort took it further, saying, "I think character-wise we're stronger than anyone in baseball. Christians, and what they've endured, are some of the strongest people in baseball. I believe God sends signs, and we're seeing those."

Like I said, **** O'Dowd and his bull**** approach to building a team based on something that has nothing to do with the game of baseball.

Bull****. You're getting your info from two left wing rags who are basically twisting the same USA Today/NY Times story that I quoted.

I'm pretty sure this is this first time Breakpoint from Prison Fellowship Ministries has been called a left wing rag.

Just look at the actual quotes from O'Dowd and Monfort. They speak for themselves. No point going back and forth.

Oh, if you want to find your way to peace with God that left wing rag I quoted from has a link to help out. You can also send your prayer requests in.

Did you read any of the silly stories on the right side of the screen? Those are the kind of stories you get from the Daily Kos or Think Progress. It is a left wing rag. At least its news is.

You're basically reading into it what you want to read into it. Ah, thanks for the condescending concern. I appreciate it.

"They have a great group of guys over there, but I've never been in a clubhouse where Christianity is the main purpose," says San Francisco Giants first baseman-outfielder Mark Sweeney, a veteran of seven organizations who spent 2003 and 2004 with the Rockies. "You wonder if some people are going along with it just to keep their jobs.

"Look, I pray every day," Sweeney says. "I have faith. It's always been part of my life. But I don't want something forced on me. Do they really have to check to see whether I have a Playboy in my locker?"

Nope. Nothing to see here.
