Reports: Braves Acquire Jorge Soler And Luke Jackson From Giants

I know hope is fun. But I do hope that you guys realize how hard to lose a 7 game lead with 50 something games left will be. Especially against a team that has been the best in baseball for 100+ games.

It's doable, but who really cares?

Look how many resources got wasted or misused in the late 1990s/early 2000s to keep the division title streak alive. Three of the final four teams last year got to the playoffs via the wild card.

I suspect that using so much mental energy to chase down the Mets in 2022 may have had something to do with the Braves coming out flat in the playoffs and exiting early as well. Same as in 1993 for that matter when they ran down the Giants after being so far back.

In a year where the entire offense has either underachieved, missed significant time due to injuries, or both, just get to the playoffs and hope for the best.

I would imagine that the Braves once a playoff spot is secure, will do everything possible to keep everyone as healthy as they can for the playoffs.

They've been below .500 for over month now and they're schedule is pretty brutal, while we have one of the easier schedules in the league to finish the season. And the lead is actually 6.5 games now.

Phillies are paper tigers. Harper had one of his worst months of his career in July and their whole pen has been bad in July outside of Hoffman. Their SP is good but over performed and their depth is being tested now. They started Kolby Allard the other day.

I’m asking for a lot of stuff to happen to give us a chance. Health and Olson hitting is a big ask right now. But if they do, I think we take it.

Austin Riley now has the highest average EV of his career and the highest hard hit rate, but his overall stat line is significantly below his career averages. I think he is gonna shove for the rest of the season. Talking like 1.000 OPS over the last 2 months.

Also, taking the remaining head to head is a must. We could play at a .650 clip and it may not matter if that doesn’t happen.

So, yeah, a lot of stuff has to go right from here on out that hasn’t gone right to this point. But, it’s not unrealistic.

I am not saying it won't happen.. just that I don't see it likely happening.

But hey, I will be here for the ride. I would love for Soler/Riley/Olson go bonkers on the league.. get that week off again and then get bounced in the first round. My favorite time of year TBH.

We have had some pretty terrible luck so far (injuries and slumps) but it cant last forever and with Riley, Olson, and Arcia coming out of their funk they’re hitting their stride at the right time so i like our chances too. The SP is what scares me a little. If they stay healthy i think we win the division.

I really don’t even care about catching the Phillies as much as I want to put a stranglehold on the top Wild Card spot and at least pressure Philadelphia. Momentum is everything!

For those wondering about the division, the next 3 weeks are critical. We have a 4 game home set against the Marlins AAA affiliate starting today, and then Brewers for 3 games at home. On the heels of that is a west coast trip to Colorado (terrible), SF (not good), and LAA (also terrible), before a 3 game set with Philly. We could easily go 11-6 or 12-5 over those 17 games before getting Philly at home.

Meanwhile, Phillies haven't won a series since sweeping the Dodgers 3 weeks ago. They are 4-11 in their last 15 games. And over the next 11 days, they have a west coast trip where they play Seattle, LAD, and AZ, all of which just improved at the deadline, followed by Miami and Washington before playing us. If they went better than 9-7 over that stretch, I would be very surprised.

By the time we play them in 3 weeks, we could/should be separated by 4 games or less.

Harris can't return until the Rockies series at the earliest. Hopefully we can get him back for SF.

I know. But losing two against the Marlins and Rockies is in the cards with people like Rosario and Merrifield playing everyday.

We really need Harris back. Rosario can’t continue to get playing time nor can Arcia continue to bat 5th.

Yeah, he's been absolutely brutal, but we all know Eddie's going to go on a scorcher over the next week and make Snit think he found it. lmao

You joke, but Eddie's batted ball profile this year is actually some of the best of his career. Highest EV ever and Highest hard hit rate ever. Despite the career highs in both, he seems to be having trouble barreling up the ball which is causing issues with his launch angle. If he could correct that, along with getting some better luck, he would look much closer to the hitter he was in 2023.

Sounds like a trend around the league and with our team specifically.

Gee, I wonder why…

I'm ready to give the Wild Card round a sniff.
