Reports: Marcell Ozuna Arrested For Domestic Battery

One report mentioned that she was arrested last year for domestic battery. Guessing Marcell outweighs her by 100 pounds or so, and if the cops actually witnessed him striking her with the cast, I'd guess that would outweigh "circumstances."
I also wonder if the Braves might have some kind of clause in the contracts after the Olivera debacle.

Also, the comment above reminding us that Ozuna was the top hitter in the league last year was cruel, vicious and I laughed out loud despite myself. I am deeply ashamed.

I hope so. But with the way the Braves seasons is going I expect 1) Ozuna to never play for the Braves again and maybe MLB again 2) Braves fully pay his contract

man, what a piece of garbage.
if he’s upset about something she last year he shouldn’t be with her.
**** this guy. take a selfie in prison, clown.

I agree with point 1. Point 2 should depend on how the contract is written. Basically all contracts center on consent and consideration. "I consent to do this in consideration of you doing that". The union may argue but if Ozuna broke the consent part then law will vote for Braves unless the Braves decide that his future contributions are worth what ever value he is owed.

Manfreds gonna destroy Ozuna and probably take us with him.

I agree that if there is any vest video from the cops, Ozuna is done. The blackeye that this one will cause baseball along with the Pirates(?) pitcher and the 13 year old girl and throw in Callaway. MLB has enough to deal with much less threatening Liberty Media.

If Ozuna is found guilty, even if he pleads to a lesser charge, he should be done as a Brave. We all agree upon that, I think.

The team will move heaven and earth to void his contract if this happens. Neither Manfred nor MLBPA will fight for Ozuna on this. The two parties are coming up on a contentious labor negotiation, and will be relying on public opinion heavily in the event there is a work stoppage. They will not want to be portrayed as either A) standing up for a domestic abuser, or B) retaliating against a team that took a strong stand against a perpetrator of domestic violence. For once the Braves will hold all the cards, provided that they do in fact cut Ozuna loose.

The problem is his attorney will probably prolong the case, so no help this season

Some of y’all act like Ozuna is the first player to ever beat his spouse...If another team wants to win bad enough he will catch on some where else after his suspension.

disagree heavily with that. if two people aren’t happy divorce can be good. don’t have to have a DV issue for it to be a good thing overall.

As someone who went through a divorce, the ripple effects are felt through generations. Everyone usually survives and most become more resilient as a result. I wasn't wrecked by my divorce and both my ex and I prospered post-divorce, but my adult children (who both were very young when the divorce took place) have been affected and I do see that. Would they have done better had the marriage survived? It's impossible to prove the negative. But divorce shouldn't be taken lightly.

I mean, if he's not in jail for the next 10 years

Man he’s not going to jail...These guys are privy to legal defenses that average people like us only see on TV...

He’ll enroll into a court ordered rehabilitation program and serve his 85 game suspension ...

It's just one thing after another with this team - snakebit. Play the kids, sell the vets, and see what we can do in 2022.
