Revenge of the Tucker; he’s baccckkk

Please don’t answer questions when you don’t know the actual answers. You’ve shown beyond all doubt you have no clue who is and isn’t eligible for playoff rosters.

There is no way Tucker can be on the playoff roster.

What was the loophole they brought up but never finished the thought Saturday night?

Think this is the interesting part - wonder if this signals that AA's going to be particularly aggressive on the trade market this winter and in turn with Pache and Waters next spring. With the logjam of arms, would he target a Polanco or OF on a short-term deal rather than bring Markakis back?

You'd expect that hanging onto a couple of AAAA corner OFs like Tucker and D-Pete would've made sense, but Duvall certainly made Peterson expendable, and bringing Tucker back gives you the LH bat to tuck-away in Gwinnett if Nick isn't brought back.

If Tucker is anywhere in the 2019 equation, Anthropoulos will have failed the off-season.

The only “loophole” I know of is replacing a guy on the 60 day DL with someone not on the 40 man roster. That’s how Riley could theoretically be on the playoff roster.

However, a player must be in the organization by August 31 to be eligible for the postseason in any way. Unless Tucker’s acquisition happened in August, he can’t be on the postseason roster.

They probably stopped talking about it because someone told them they were wrong

Huh? I didn’t know he was gone. I gotta get out more.

If Tucker is anywhere in the 2019 equation, Anthropoulos will have failed the off-season.

Considering Xavier Avery, Danny Santana, and Phil Gosselin have been in Gwinnett all season, he apparently failed this year given that line of thinking.

Afraid I can't recall the last organization that had legitimate starting-caliber players filling each position on their AAA rosters - hanging out to fill-in when someone went on the 10-Day DL. The vast majority of the guys at Gwinnett in a typical year are simply placeholders that you'd hope could get hot for a couple weeks in the event you had to call them up and use them - Tucker has shown he's capable of doing that. In the event AA added someone like Polanco, Tucker would fit in so much as he hits from the same side and has some pop if Polanco was out for 10 days, meaning Snitker wouldn't have to do much lineup juggling.

The problem with most of the equations remains the same - your fallback option simply isn't going to be as good as Option 1, no matter who it might be. Tucker (or D-Pete, Adams, Reed, etc. at this point) would be significant downgrades if they had to be given extended playing time, sure - name a AAAA OF who wouldn't be. If a Markakis/Polanco suffered an injury that was going to cause them to miss significant time and their production had to be replaced to keep the 2019 team afloat, AA would obviously have to consider pushing Pache and moving Ender to RF or going outside the organization at that point - more or less every GM in the league would be in the same boat (outside of maybe Cashman).
