Riley And Anderson Articles

Portrays a much different narrative than we went the cheap route, and a much better pick than Kyle Lewis at the time .

I maintain Anderson has a ceiling of a #3 starter. Unless he learns another pitch (splitter?), he's never going to be a top of the rotation guy.

Anderson was great tonight but his arsenal isn't deep enough to be a TOR guy. He's a solid #3.

Change and a great FB can carry guys a LONG way.

Great change and a decent fastball. Thats enough to make him a very valuable, reliable middle of the rotation starter.

I honestly wonder what he'd do as a closer. He's more valuable as a starter now but the fastball might get even better with max effort and that changeup with an improved fastball would be even more lethal.

If the curve was a plus pitch he'd be a TOR candidate.

It'd be unfair to EXPECT more, but it's also unfair to think what you see from Anderson at 24 is the best you're going to get - particularly when there's a legitimate reason to expect his curve to improve with Morton around for another year. Surely you don't think his development has gone as far as it can when he's still this young.

Imagining him as a closer is awfully shortsighted - he already has three legitimate pitches he can get major league hitters out with. This isn't Touki/Ynoa/Muller/Davidson/Strider/Shuster/Cusick who still have a long way to go before they have a legitimate third pitch for hitters to even consider offering at.

Still at it? At least you've raised your estimation.
