Based on the info I've seen, it seems they got this verdict right.

This kid played wannabe commando, someone attacked him, and he defended himself.

I agree that a 17 year old playing dress up commando at a protest is beyond stupid, but it isn't illegal. It is also not illegal to defend yourself with deadly force when attacked while doing something stupid. WI has stand your ground laws that I personally agree with.

As usual, folks are going to see what they want to see though, and aren't really concerned with the actual legality of the issues...only how specific points back their views.

I just had a guy tell me this is wrong because his mother drove him and his automatic rifle across state lines to be there. It's incredible how not just ignorant, but misinformed people are.
