Rouse KO'd cold.

MMA is so barbaric. It sickens me that people watch it.

Hooray, let's celebrate someone suffering a traumatic brain injury!

It's much safer than others sports actually. Brain injuries aren't nearly as common in the UFC as they are in Boxing. Fewer rounds and not nearly as many shots to the head. And the refs call the match when you aren't able to protect yourself. There's no going down and counting to 10 and then you get back up for more punishment. Same for football. You'd be much safer in the long run putting your kids into an MMA league rather than pee wee football.

I like Ronda and all. She's a cool chick in all her interviews. But she talks some mad **** and had an ass kicking coming.

Aren't they already scheduled for a rematch at some point? Maybe Ronda will do some self-checking between now and then.

All that said, I tend to agree with Holden. If we're going to have sports where people are getting punched and kicked in the head repeatedly, we might as well have people with guns in a 1700s-style duel.

On the other hand, the argument could be made football is pretty barbaric too. Except for NFL QBs who get treated like 5-year-old girls.

Football is barbaric. the game of football is going to look a lot different 20 years from now. Theres a reason why they lose billion dollar lawsuits

I was a big fan of the UFC during its heyday (Brock lesnar era) but I can understand how people can compare it to human cockfighting. Busted lips, Busted noses, blood everywhere, eyes swollen shut etc.

Nobody is forcing these people to choose this career path. I don't have any sympathy for them or anyone else.

Rarely do you see eyes swollen shut. Again, generally you aren't taking too many shots to the face before the match is over.

Is there blood? Sure. But there's blood in every sport. Some more than others, but MMA is far from the most dangerous sport. I'd put it just above baseball in terms of degree of danger.

In most sports, your opponent doesn't get to clock you in the head with a roundhouse kick then jump on you and punch you in the face over and over (while unconscious) until the referee steps in to stop it. That's not too good for the brain.

Every knockout is a concussion, by definition. A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury. If you fell and hit your head and got knocked unconscious, you'd go to the hospital and get a CT to make sure your brain wasn't bleeding. When that happens in MMA, people stand up and cheer.

Football is pretty messed up too, no doubt. And it will probably not exist in its current form for much longer. But it's deceiving (and immaterial) to say that MMA isn't as dangerous as other sports.

Simply googling "MMA concussions" pretty quickly dispels this.

MMA brain injury risk is higher than boxing

Furthermore, from the article:
Citing data from other research, the study said the mixed martial arts head trauma rate also outpaces football and hockey.

It's time people accept the reality about this sport.

Because Ronda Arousesme.

Yup

Not fair for someone to be hot and talented. Talented folk are supposed to be overcoming their lack of attractiveness. At least that's what I"m banking on.
