I don't overestimate Russia. But I do believe that an essential element of their foreign policy goals is to thwart the United States. Generally. This greatly limits the prospects for achieving anything by cooperating with Russia. There might be the odd issue here and there where our interests align. But as a general proposition it is better to view Putin and company as adversaries not friends. And certainly not people to be trusted as partners in anything.

Yeah. That is silly. But what the Russians did is not trivial either. And the fact that we too have been guilty of interfering in other countries politics does not mean we should take what they did sitting down.

I also think the tools they have at their disposal for that sort of mischief are going to grow in effectiveness and sophistication. And other countries will develop those capabilities as well. So it would be a good idea lay down a marker and make clear that there will be a substantial cost to engaging in that sort of activity.
 
China is the greater threat to Pax Americana and seems likely to return us to two superpower, East vs. West setting. Russia is more likely to incite a military confrontation due to Putin's quest to regain as much of the lost Soviet glory as possible. We probably should have done something to deter further aggression after the Crimean invasion. Now we have US troops trading fire with Russian "mercenaries" in Syria.

The Russian threat is minuscule to China. Not sure how anyone doesn't see that. I think we have more in common with Russia than we do with China thats for damn sure. And its those commonalities that can forge 'peace' agreements.

It's difficult to understand a world where a Romney loss is followed by a Trump win. I think he was the best R nominee since Reagan.

As runnin, 57, and goldy will tell you... Trump's win is simply a result of how racist the country is... why the country overwhelmingly elected a black guy twice is a bit of a mystery, but Trump against the white person allowed us to show our true colors!
