Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Considering Manafort is almost 70, anything 15+ years is pretty much going to be spending the rest of his life in prison.

"Mr Cohen has direct knowledge that suggests, I'm not sure it proves, that Mr Trump was aware of Russian government agents hacking illegally, committing computer crimes, to the detriment of the candidate he was running against, Hillary Clinton."

Lanny Davis

if Lanny Davis is correct, then how are we to interpret TTT's open encouragement to the Russians to continue these activities as well as his public offer of a "good deal" on sanctions

as I've said multiple times the quid pro quo was out there in broad daylight

Lanny Davis

why on earth should that be OK?

I think this is more damning against the collusion angle.

"Not sure it proves"

Of course the left has decided that that is proof. But of course it leaves him an out legally

Really? I think Davis is using the term proof as a lawyer would in a court of law.

I think there is plenty of evidence. But proof that will stand up in a court of law is a different matter. My suspicion is this is why investigations like Mueller's tend to take a long time.

Keep averting your gaze.

Getting close to that 2 year mark ..

Looks like you have gotten campaign finance laws. So... Congrats?

on a slightly different topic it is interesting how the WSJ has repeatedly scooped the Times and Post on these stories involving payoffs to women...including today's story about Pecker

Trump’s obvious desire to keep Manafort from cooperating would seem to be a flashing signal that Brother Pavel may have the goods on him.

it would be a pretty clear cut abuse of power to pardon an obvious crook like Manafartov

Trump has already convinced his supporters that Manafort is a very good man. He's tried to convince them he's innocent without actually saying he's innocent.

The popular theory is Maggie Haberman uses Trump as a direct source. Someone went back to all her pieces and so many were puff pieces on Donald. And everytime Donald is making bad headlines there is a NYT article written by Haberman coming out the next day to paint the picture that tries to humanize Trump. Her nickname to some is now MAGA Haberman. When the NYT article about Trump and Guiliani pondering about the fallout of pardoning Manafort no surprise who authored that column beforeclicking the link. Sure its not uncommon for journalists like Haberman to trade stories for access.

But this has been a pattern with Trump trying to play the media. They leak something like an idea. See what the public thinks about it. If theres too much negative feedback then they don't do it obviously.

Even if Trump did pardon Manafort, I dont have any hope in anyone in the GOP in the House or Senate to do anything about it. McConnell has no balls or morals. Ryan is useless.

I don’t doubt that Trump wants to pardon Manafort, and I half-expect that he will. I’m more interested in the why. He doesn’t do anything that isn’t self-interested. He’s not going to pardon him just because he thinks he got a raw deal. The only thing I can come up with beyond the obvious is that he wants to set a precedent for any other, ahem, old crook who might be accused of a raft of financial crimes in the future.

He's pardoned:

Scooter Libby
Dinesh D'Souza
Sheriff Joe
The Bundy Family

Who else were politically motivated pardons that I'm missing?

Yep. It's almost like Mueller is taunting him to do it. Trump looks like a dead Prez walking. Washington has to be planning for President Pence.

I'm stunned
