Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

It is difficult to understate how much stronger the collusion and obstruction (or abuse of power) cases have gotten in the past 48 hours.

The Cohen charging document also sheds some light about a financial quid pro quo about which I'm sure more information will be coming out.

should the president not be allowed to gain personally from being president while president? come on. i mean, if he had a peanut farm i'd understand being weary of this all. but trump? guy has been fraud-free and clean his whole life. what's the big deal

Has the big nothing burger been upgraded to a double big nothing burger with cheese combo yet?

why would trump lie about the deal being dead?

I think it is important to understand this. The campaign even to the very end never looked like it would succeed in electing him president. Winning the presidency was an unexpected and problematic development. Problematic in the sense that it made it more difficult and in some cases impossible to realize the gains from certain projects that were cooking in 2016. The questions about Russia became extremely inconvenient in the summer of 2016 and Trump had to disavow any interest in the Moscow project. Up until that point he, Sater and Cohen (and I'm sure others) were very much interested in receiving whatever largesse the Russians were willing to dole out. The really interesting question is what the Russians thought they were getting in return.

ending the sanctions?

I think that was part of it. The other part was having a witting and willing partner in their campaign to subvert our democratic processes. This part included their desire to damage Hillary, who they hated and feared but understood was likely to be the next president. And finally, they probably calculated all along that there was a 20-40% chance Trump would win. That would be the bonus. Having their boy in the White House.

Deutsche Bank has been raided in a money laundering investigation.
Only major bank willing to lend to trump (why wouldn't any banks lend to him? odd!).

now we wait...for Republicans of conscience to step forward

who will step forward and draw the appropriate conclusions and explain them to the public

Kasich?

Romney?

Schwarzenegger?

This is a moment to step forward.

There is a fictional line from Deep Throat in All the President's Men that is getting a lot of play because it is even more apt to the current situation.

"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand."
