Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

From an economic perspective absolutely.

I know the tone has drastically shifted the last few days and collision seems more unlikely. You had high hopes and now they are all but destroyed. I still want you and your people to be part of the solutions moving forward though.

Julio can be 'part of the solutions' at the new border gulag.

Mueller investigation cost $3.2M in its first 4 months. That's a long weekend at Mar-a-Lago for Trump and fam.

(from the Twitter account that thethe just linked:)

By comparison, Patrick Fitzgerald spent $2.6 million in the 45-month Valerie Plame investigation.

It's been a witch hunt from the beginning.

Mueller is a Republican. His boss, Rod Rosenstein, is a Republican, appointed by Trump after being selected by Sessions. The current head of the FBI was appointed by Trump. All of the congressional committees investigating Russian interference are chaired by Republicans.

There is a public interest in letting Mueller and the investigative committees do their jobs. Lets see what they uncover and report to the public.

Of course there is politics involved. Trump is being Benghazied on a grand scale. That's the way the game is played.

But beyond that, the public deserves to know as much as possible about what the Russians did to influence the elections.

The Republicans have proven to be pathetic for a long time.

Let's see what they uncover for how long? In what scope? At what point is collusion no longer a goal?

How long? Hell if I know. It is a complicated investigation. I'm willing to wait. My pantry is well stocked with popcorn.

The scope of Mueller's investigation seems pretty narrow to me.

There are lots of angles to it. Among the questions to be answered:

1) Who did the hacking
2) Who paid for it
3) Who controlled the hackers
4) Were the hackers approached by any entities connected to the Trump campaign (including cutouts such as Peter W Smith)
5) Did the people in possession of the hacked materials communicate with the Trump campaign
6) How did the campaign react to such approaches
7) Were promises or even winks and nods made that were the equivalent of a quid pro quo
8) Was Trump or any of his key people susceptible to blackmail
9) What was the rationale for Comey's firing
10) Did Trump or Kushner or any key players develop a financial dependency upon Russians or Russian-controlled entities

That's the Top 10 for me.

Reader's Digest version:

1) Russian hacking
2) Trump campaign's relation to said hacking
3) Subsequent alleged cover-up by the Trump administration

And Mueller's purview with respect to the nitty-gritty of actual instances of purported Russian 'hacking' is pretty limited, which is unfortunate, because it's ultimately the most important element of this entire debacle.

Yeah...would love to get a detailed understanding of how the hack took place and what the vulnerable entry point was.

I would not underestimate the financial dependency angle. Manafort and Gates seem to have become quite dependent upon Russian/Ukrainian patrons. There is a financial angle to Flynn's troubles, having to do mainly with Turkey but to a lesser extent Russia as well. It seems to me that the Kushner family is in a bit of a bind with their 666 property and might have some financial entanglements that would be of relevance to the investigation.

Still have to prove the 'pro'. The correlation doesn't cut it

I agree it is unproven. I think it happened but don't claim it is proven. But I also think it is unrealistic to expect this kind of investigation to be easy. And I do not think it is a witch hunt. Sure there is a big partisan element to this. As I said Trump is being Benghazied on a grand scale. But there is a serious public interest aspect to the Mueller investigation (and the congressional investigations too) and I want to see it run its course.

Depending in the new information that comes out about the partisian nature of the investigative team there is a real risk of a large portion of the public not trusting any results. That would have happened anyway but I think that percentage grows by leaps.
