Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Facts that are no longer in dispute: On August 2, 2016, while still chairman of the Trump campaign, Pavel Manafartov handed over private polling data that the Trump campaign paid a lot of money for. He handed this over to Russian spy Konstantin Kilimnik and asked that it be shared with certain parties in Russia. Kilimnik in turn gave him a so-called "peace plan" for Ukraine.

Questions: Why would Manafartov hand over this polling data? What was his motivation? Why would he think this might be of value to the Russians? What did he think they would do with the data?

Because Manafort has been in bed with various parties in Eastern Europe and Russia for a long time.

What does that have to do with Trump and his campaign?

Why wouldn't Manafort at any point indicate he was under the direction of Trump when he is facing life in prison?

This I think is a very good question.

A possible answer is hinted at in this opening paragraph from a NY Times article the day after he was convicted:

President Trump on Wednesday praised his just-convicted former campaign chairman for refusing to “break” and cooperate with federal prosecutors investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, expressing appreciation for the personal loyalty of a felon found guilty of defrauding the United States government.

Such weak circumstantial evidence to support all of your claims.

I come back to the question: Why did Manafartov give this expensive private polling data to the Russians. What was his motivation. What did he think they would do with it.

And why did Kilimnik give Manafartov a "peace plan" for Ukraine? What was his motivation? What did he expect Manafartov to do with the peace plan?

Why not give him a box of cigars or jar of caviar instead?

Why would the Trump campaign try to start a conversation with Russia via the Trump tower meeting if there was already an establish line of communication?

Why would Stone reach out to Wikileaks to get information about e-mails if Trump campaign was already involved.

You love to focus on just one side but do not see the whole picture which is clear and that is what the Senate Intelligence committee just concluded on.

The Trump Tower meeting imo was an exploration on the part of the Russians to see if the Trump campaign wanted to play ball with them. And the answer they got back was a resounding yes.

With respect to WikiLeaks my thinking there is WikiLeaks was the shy party. They did not wish to be seen as being in direct communication with the campaign. They realize they have some legal exposure and that perhaps the best legal shield they have is the fiction that they function as some sort of journalistic enterprise. Openly coordinating with a campaign to weaponize emails stolen from an opposing campaign would blow that cover.

She had planned to be a hospital administrator, she told the magazine, but things changed after the September 11 attacks, and she ended up at Columbia Law School in New York, on a full scholarship.

This part makes me suspicious.

Ahmad told the CTC Sentinel that there were several factors that went into her decisions to go to law school, to work in criminal law, and to eventually become a prosecutor working on terrorism case. “It’s been an unexpected but incredibly rewarding career path for me,” she told the publication.

Another reason, she told the publication, was to change the perceptions of Muslims.

hmmmm

“In some ways, the primary relevance of my ethnic background to the work I do is its irrelevance,” she said. “By that I mean that anyone who knows the broader American-Muslim community knows that it rejects the distorted version of Islam that terrorist groups use to justify acts of mass violence,” she continued. “And so it should not be surprising to find members of that community participating in counterterrorism efforts, as you do across many different federal agencies,” she said, adding, I’m not unique. It’s in keeping with broader values and patriotism of the American-Muslim community.” According to Ahmad, “many American-Muslims feel that it’s their own culture and their own community that are being hijacked, which makes it a particularly important goal for them to hold accountable the perpetrators of terrorism.”

anyone believe a word of this?
