i don't know

but i know from the mueller report russians were trying to get access to the campaign etc

so, it's logical to think that chatter might have been picked up and what not from russians they were already paying attention to and were like "holy ****, they are talking to someone in a presidential campaign"

I think the proof is there about Manafartov sending polling data to Kilimnik and trying to use his campaign position to resolve financial issues with various oligarchs.

I believe a judge found that Manafartov lied about it among other things. Manafartov himself admitted to some of it after his memory was jogged. Eg his meeting in Spain with Kilimnik that somehow he could not remember until his memory was ah refreshed.
