What strikes me about your characterization of events is that you frame it as an attempt to remove a sitting president while discussing events that happened months before the election, and you pin it on Obama when the senior leadership were mostly career officials who served under multiple administrations.
What struck me about the NR piece you posted was that McCarthy expresses disbelief (feigned, I think) that anyone would make the logical leap that “derogatory information” suggested to GP might have been hacked emails. He’s reaching even further when suggesting that the DNC emails weren’t derogatory towards HRC, when they were clearly deployed against her in a specifically derogatory way.
McCarthy, as befits a former prosecutor, is very good at building a focused narrative using information that supports his case and ignoring information that doesn’t.
Before he was elected it was used to insert doubt as to trumps loyalties ad then afterwards it was escalated to prevent knowledge of what was done by the obama administration. Its really not that hard to see what happened here. The information was always available.

The tax returns were an issue before even a word of Russia was uttered. When Mueller's investigation began Trump said his finances were out of bounds.
Perhaps he ran for President for no other reason than to stay out of prison for tax evasion.
