Ryan Buchter

Playing the Waiting Game
Buchter was just released by the Dodgers and was sporting very nice numbers at AAA: 32 2/3 IP, 1.65 ERA, 39 K, 16 BB

Any chance we pick him up for a second time?

Seems to me like we could try to work out a trade with the Cubs for McKirahan and option him to AAA with Buchter taking his roster spot. Just a suggestion.

why? First off McKirahan is 3 years younger, has a better lifetime ERA and Whip in the minors. Where is the plus side to this?

McKirahan had never pitched above AA before this year and it's apparent that he could have used another year or two in the minors at AAA. Not to mention the fact that Avilan has struggled to reproduce another year like he had in 2013 and is a possible trade candidate.

Also, please note the last thing I said (in big red letters)

I like Buchter's strikeout rate. But the walk rate is not palatable. Good guy to stash in AAA on the odd chance his control improves.
