Sale to 15-Day IL With Fractured Ribcage

Snitker could throw this lineup out there before Profar is back:

Harris CF
Albies 2B
Riley 1B
Murphy C
White LF
Verdugo DH
Fairchild RF
Williams 3B
Allen SS

I wanna see nacho at 2b. Kelenic in cf. I don't think either are better, but I want some feelings hurt. I want some guys to wake the hell up

I want to see Kelenic up for Verdugo. He isn’t a better hitter, but at least he can play defense and run a little. He can also actually hit a HR now and then.

The play was so unnecessary all around, from Snitker extending Sale with a rested bullpen to Sale diving like he did in a 5-0 game in the 9th. I'm probably more irritated at Sale, if I'm honest. Dumb risking his health on that play, heat of the moment be damned.

I guess the silver lining is that if the Braves can somehow miraculously make the postseason (big if, I know), then he'll have saved all those bullets for October baseball.
Will be a race against time. After some digging around (I mean asking ChatGPT), it seems like 12 weeks is a good anchor for a return to full strength. Assuming a smooth recovery and no additional muscle damage.

12 weeks! Ugh. Well, that sucks. Ruined his chance to repeat for the Cy Young too. Ugh.

I guess this settles the debate of whether he should be available at the deadline…

This team is infuriating with its stupidity. As has been pointed out multiple times in this thread, there was no upside and all downside to sending Sale out for that 9th. Even if he gets the CG and doesn’t injure himself, he‘s throwing pitches while fatigued and the game not really in doubt anymore. And then you wonder why he’s not available to pitch in the playoffs.
There was zero chance Sale would be traded at the deadline anyways. Would be so dumb to trade an ace on a bargain deal.

I hope that almost complete game and that diving stop was worth his second consecutive CY bc he was on track to get it. I'm sure Wheeler and a few others are happy now. Congrats to Sale for begging to stay in and for Snit letting him to possibly tank any chance we had to come back.

That dive was idiotic and I said as much as soon as it happened in the GDT.

Sometimes you have to protect these players from themselves. Snitker and this organization doesn’t seem to get that.

After more deliberation, I don't expect more than a few weeks. Drew Brees and Alvin kamara (last season) played with multiple rib fractures. Now granted, football guys are tougher than baseball, but contact vs non-contact matters... if an nfl qb and a damn nfl rb can play with rib fractures, sale will be able to too.

Sale is so skinny and has that sidearm motion that he slingshots that I think it will act up again if it's not completely healed. But just like wanting to finish the compete game he's gonna want to try to win another CY and if he is out to long that's over.

Did we all enjoy that 120 pitch effort to get 26 outs? I hope so because it likely cost you any chance of watching the Braves in October.

I’m so glad the tactical master in charge of the dugout extended the ace for no reason in June.

Well done Snit…well done. We all really appreciate it.

A very brittle ace, as we just found out. This is just one in a long line of freak injuries: broken finger after being hit by liner, broken wrist falling off a bike, previous rib fractures,…

We‘re not talking about trading Randy Johnson here.

Bowman seems to think mid-August for sale. lol, that's terrible imo. Here's an article about kamara playing with a broken hand and ribs... in yhe NFL at RB. Baseball is so soft

I can't tell if you are serious or not....

But it certainly seems like you are. So you think a pitcher with broken ribs is going to be able play through that with no affect on his mechanics, his velocity, his stamina, etc.?

I mean jeez dude, even something a small as a blister can have huge impacts on a pitcher's effectiveness, but somehow a pitcher is soft for not playing through multiple broken ribs......

Are you trying to break a record for terrible takes in a month?
