Fredi will, and really has to, give him another chance to redeem himself and get back on track. It's a no brainer. No ML manager would do what you are suggesting with Santana this quickly. One more ridiculous meltdown and he will certainly give it some thought. But Santana was just a couple of pitches away from having a easy W.

Failure is a huge part of the game and good managers actually make great use of it. All they have to do is show confidence in a player when he's down. The law of averages is usually on their side. When things start going good again the manager who sticks by his player earns his trust and wins big kudos from the rest of the team.
