SATURDAY MINORS FINAL: More Aces than pinocle

Why y'all giving up on Riley so quick?

I haven't given up on him yet. But the games I have listened to, he has a lot of pop ups and Ks. I haven't looked, but his LD% can't be good. I think there are concerns about bat speed and some signs show that it might be warranted..

I have no opinion either way on bringing Albies up, but the melt here would be quite entertaining

We're already past the threshold for this counting as a full year of service time. So he could be brought up now and still not lose a year of control. We haven't made it to the Super 2 deadline, but I'd be a little surprised if he stayed down that long regardless.

He is ready now, so I don't have a problem with going ahead and bringing him up.

Then assuming Phillips can man 3b, bring em on. I just don't wanna bench Phillips right now bc he's playing well

I still think when Oz is brought up, he will be super sub getting playing time all over the field. BP will still start 2B primarily until he is not effective, traded, or end of season.

Priority will be given to Albies. I don't think anything is blocking him from being the everyday 2B once he's up, the question just becomes what you do with Phillips.

I think there is much more precedence for a young player to temporarily move positions. If Phillips is playing well then I don't see him being replaced. If the braves are out of it he will be traded. If they are playing meaningful games in September he wont.

This is my thought as well. I also think Ozzie has much, much more positional flexibility. I honestly think he could play anywhere outside of catcher if asked.

But Phillips is a temporary stop-gap, he isn't a foundational piece of anything. And we need a 3B far more than we need some kind of super sub. Albies will be in the lineup every day once he's up. It's possible we put him at 3B, but I'd even be surprised by that.

There most likely scenario is Phillips gets traded at the deadline and Albies comes up to play 2nd. Albies is our future 2B and will be playing there once he is called up. In the event the Braves are actually contending and Albies is playing well then I can see him being called up and being a super sub the 2nd half of the year.

Either that or he comes up in September. I don't really see a reason to bring Albies up unless Phillips completely falls apart, is injured, or is traded.

I think the braves will be able to move Phillips if he's playing well and they might even get something decent for him.

Sorry guys. Gotta agree with Smoot on this one. I don't see Oz up unless he is at 2B pretty much every day.

i think injury is the factor that brings him up. The trade deadline seems like a long way off for Albies. But if Phillips goes down for say 20 games, then Albies will have his chance to show he can make it here.

Not that I am hoping he goes down.
