Broken record Part Deux. If we get Marte last summer, he fills the whole in CF or RF and we have him under control for 2021 at a price below what we paid for Ozuna. In other words, a huge upgrade last season and insurance in case we have to move on from Ozuna or Pache underperformed this season. As it turned out, we are without both Ozuna and Pache. I get the payroll constraints argument, but Marte would have been the perfect addition on multiple fronts.

He’s a FA after the year so we would have to give more than the pick they’ll get when he signs elsewhere.

Don't be so sure he doesn't sign a below-market deal to stay there. Like Freeman, he's already openly stated he'd like to sign an extension and finish his career there.

He's not going to take pennies on the dollar, but he was well-aware of the Marlins' history of being cheap (not like that's some big secret) when he said he'd like to stay.
