School Openings

So, what's your solution? I mean the actual bare bones solution, not just let's break up the unions, take away all the teacher's legal defenses, give the parents, and the kids, and the administrators even more say and just assume things will get better???

Privatize education. Its the only path to fix this.

Fire bad teachers. Pay good ones. Localize curriculum.

Dont teach to the bottom.

Teach critical thinking.

Teach personal finance.

Why do you.keep worrying about unions? It keeps bad teachers in the system
There's no incentive to be a good teacher

not sure what teachers banding together to insure working conditions and salaries has to do with Trump Admin sending kids and teachers into a pandemic virus pit.
With no established protocols or for that matter any forethought at all

Its obvious that Trump just wants to kill children

of course you are for breaking all unions.
They vote as a block against polluters and the investor class

Or in a nutshell, the (R) base since the 1930's

Did you not read what I have posted. The only part of the unions I defend is the legal protection for teachers who ARE doing their jobs. I actually agree with most of your other statements (all the stuff in bold font) except for the localizing curriculum part. Some of it sure, but do you not recall a few years back when Texas tried to rewrite the history books and eliminate people, events, facts, etc., that were pro-Dem in nature and add lots of pro-Repub stuff and people and events?

How are we supposed to teach when in many classrooms the kids do whatever the hell they want and learn whether they want to or not and teachers have very little power to do anything about it and keep their jobs. Getting rid of legal protection for good teachers will finish destroying the system.

You're the guy who's always talking about math skills, right? What happens to any equation when you totally change one side of it, but don't change the other side?

One more thing, how can we as a nation decide what facts we teach our kids when we as a nation can't even agree on what facts actually are facts???

Tell me what happens when one teacher with 30 students contacts Covid-19 ?

Not to mention 4 or 5 per school district

what national standard response and safeguards are in place

I think the term that applies is " premature ejaculation" which seems to fit tso much of that political profile

This is not the answer because you are ASSUMING the bottom line while paying no attention to the rest of the lines that make up the system. I've gone over this time and again,

1.) Kids want to do their thing and not be overly bothered with things like discipline, learning, grades, etc.
2.) Parents want their little darlings to be happy and when they aren't the parents are up there with their pitchforks and torches complaining that "those teachers be put in their place" so their kids will be happy.
3.) Lots of Administrators are literally whores who will do anything to keep their big salaries and perks, and their school's funding. This means dealing with and manipulating the group with the least actual power, which are the teachers.
.4) Yes, there are bad teachers out there. Lots of them. As a teacher who always at least tries to do the right thing and teach the students as much as possible, I have fought against bad teachers most of my adult life.

If administrators are whores who will do literally anything for money in a public school, how will the administrators at a private school be anything but that. You can daydream about standards, and holding people accountable at a private or public school but unless you have some sort of system in place with certain factors guaranteed you're just doing the same thing as the parents and kids are right now, taking the easy way out and damn the facts, I'll take the assumptions.

Is it your practice to befriend as many “sucky” people as possible?

birds of a feather.
no teacher i know wants to stay home, especially those with children of their own.
regardless of what anyone wants, tho, going back simply isn't safe. i don't care if "only" 0.2% of children will die. betsy devos seems totally OK with that, but that's psychopathic and frankly gross. par for the course.
**** all these people man

Its significantly less than .2 but you dont care about facts.

Where is your outrage on the flu which kills a higher percentage of kids?

Oh wait...you don't actually care. Just another trump adjacent issue for you loons.

why unnecessarily sacrifice children and teachers

we have a choice

or,

we had a choice
//////////////

no one is talking about the flu, or car wrecks or paper cuts
talking about sending children and teachers into a viral pit
pretty specific topic

for no reason other than we as a people have no patience to wait this out

0.2% of the total deaths so far, and that's including a whole lot that aren't affected (ages 19-25). 0.2% of the total deaths isn't the same as 0.2% of children will die.

the schools are already closed.

No one has yet spelled out agreed the upon protocols for re opening.
