Score board watching

for a young and inconsistent team we've avoided long losing and winning streaks

Yeah if you look at the big picture, we've actually been remarkably consistent given our roster makeup. I think in a 5 game playoff series it would look something like this vs. potential opponents:

Cubs: We'd have to play great and get a little lucky
Dodgers: We'd have to play great and get a little lucky
Cardinals: We'd have to play good
Brewers: We'd have to play good
Rockies: We could have just an average series and still win it
Diamondbacks: We could have an average series and still win it

Obviously we could lose any of these series if we get cold enough. But I think we are better than the Rockies/Diamondbacks. I think we are just as good as the Cardinals and Brewers. I think the Cubs and the Dodgers are a little bit ahead of us and we would have to play really well to take them down in a 5 or 7 game series.

We are still in an amazing spot. The Phillies and Nats have done us a ton of favors by being terrible in September. If we can take 1 or 2 vs. St. Louis, we could be in a position to clinch in the first Philadelphia series. I sure would love to go into the Mets/Phillies road games having already clinched the division.

I actually won a Fields Medal.

you dont recognize him as a fellow poet? Neruda has been put to song so why not Robert.

I do—and, beyond his impressive folk lyric output, he does have one book of straight verse (Tarantula) that I think is very strong.

But there are those in the community who feel he didn’t “need” another accolade, or the further “legitimacy” that attends a Nobel; they feel the prize would’ve been better allocated to an author who’s not, say, already sitting on a mountain of royalties and able to be paid six-figures for a Cadillac commercial any time the fancy strikes him.

Wheeler may pitch again this season as the Mets are considering shutting him down because of innings pitched. Would be nice for the Braves not to have to face him.
