Second Lefty in Pen

Expects Yuge Games
With Newk throwing 55 pitches last night and possibly starting game 2 of the fillies series we should bring up another lefty for the pen. Either Dayton or Minter.
 
Dayton has pitched better. Minter blew up the other night. But keep in mind that Sobotka was very effective on lefties last year as well.
Current Gwinnett bullpen numbers:
Sobotka 5G, 1-0, 1.35 ERA (6.2 IP, 11K), 0 HR allowed
Parsons 10G, 1-0, 1 save, 1.37 ERA (19.2 IP, 19 K), 1 HR allowed
Dayton 14 G, 0-1, 1.65 ERA (16.1 IP, 24 K), 3 HR allowed
DePaula 20 G, 1-2, 6 saves, 2.45 ERA (25.2 IP, 30 K), 2 HR allowed
Minter 9 G, 0-1, 2 saves, 2.53 (10.2 IP, 15 K), 2 HR allowed
Carle 12 G, 3-0, 5.48 (21.1 IP, 18 K), 1 HR allowed
Creasy 16 G, 2-1, 7.52 (20.1 IP, 17 K), 5 HR allowed
 
Dayton would be my choice, he hasn't allowed any homers to lefties. Minter gave up three runs in one inning recently.
 
At the major league level:

Sobotka career FIP against lefties 4.74
Dayton 3.67
Minter 1.27

I would keep Minter in the minors a bit longer to sort things out. Dayton for now. Minter for later in the season.

Hopefully Minter sorts things out better than Biddle has in Seattle. Biddle has good stuff but he continues to stink this year. Carle is another that was good last year but stinks now. He may end up DFA'd if he has another 6 run outing like his recent game in the minors.

Both Biddle and Minter strike me as a little brittle mentally.

Newcomb will start Saturday unless something crazy happens and he’s needed out of the bullpen Friday

Since Gausman is headed to the pen, if Newk leads us to victory over Philly he could end up taking the spot of one of Fried/Folty if either or both should struggle. Hopefully all three pitch well though.
